Just my opinion, but I think the brand matters also. Even though it's heat friendly fibers, one Igite I have is truly a work horse! Belle tress also seems to last a very long time.

I have a wig that is 3yrs old and it is still in great condition, no frizz to it still... I take excellent care of my wigs! And I now buy Nel's Wigs and absolutely love them cuz they are absolutely gorgeous, affordable, and hairlines are amazing... been buying from Nel's for over a year now....

I find that as my less expensive synthetic wigs look better as they age. True it doesn’t feel the same but actually looks. Ore realistic. Like a well worn soft pair of favorite jeans 💜

Great video Denise. A topic not discussed as often as it should. I have been wearing wigs for about five years or so now. I struggled with getting longevity out of my wigs. They seemed to go only about four months before I needed a new one. I wear one wig at a time. I wear it seven days a week, 12 hours a day. I do not rotate. I wear a wig until it is time to get another one. I do not use products in my hair that may or may not impact longevity with regard to build-up (Denise?). I have only worn Noriko/ROP wigs so I believe the brand also plays a factor in the longevity and Denise you can talk about that perhaps in a follow-up video. I tried everything regarding washing to try to extend the life of my wig. I have found it!!!!! Yeah!!!!!! I am currently wearing ROP Scorpio - a straight, chin length, basic cap with bangs bob. Love it. This is the second wig that I have been doing this process and so far on the wig I am wearing I am going into month six and it is still going strong - I will be curious to see how long I can go as I plan to wear this wig as long as I can. I wear a new wig about a month before I give it its first wash (no judging - I am 62 so not out doing things that cause sweating that can lead to needing to wash more). After that, I wash it every two weeks. I fill a Tupperware container with some dawn detergent and water -- mix it up to give it some bubbles and soak my wig in that for about 15 minutes. I like Dawn and water as it seems to wash out of the wig really easily and quickly and does not leave any soap behind on the wig I wring out the water from the wig. I then put a heaping amount of a product I actually buy at Sally's Beauty Supply and use it like a deep conditioner even though it is a regular conditioner. I lather that wig up with it and let it sit for about thirty minutes to forty-five minutes. It washes out really well. I wring it out and let it dry. Trust me I have tried everything and this process works the best. The only other thing I do is to use a little heat for the bangs and ends I like that you are not spending a lot of money on the shampoo/conditioner and can easily obtain it from a box store. The conditioner I use also offers a shampoo as well - I have not tried it but I am guessing it would be good. The conditioner I buy at Sally's is Bamboo Volumizing Conditioner from a company called Soapbox. It costs around $10.00. Since it is for human hair, you can also use it for your own. I definitely recommend trying it. I think you will be pleased. I just cannot afford to be paying tons of money on wigs nor do I think you need to.

Great and much needed video Denise. Most of my synthetics last much longer than the expected duration, the only exception for me being RW heat friendly fibers, Which tend not to last well for me even when babying them.

Hi Denise, I am new to wigs. I want so bad to get a shoulder length wig so that I can do an updo. However, I am not ready to get a heat friendly wig. Once I get it in an updo I will keep it like that without taking it apart. As I mentioned once before I have an auto-immune illness that effects my skin & muscles. It is very dificult for me to put makeup or do my hair among other things. When you spoke of your illness I was able to relate to you. I have taken medications some were the same as yours. One of them caused me to become a diabetic. There were times I could not get out of bed. I am a fighter & I will not give up. That could be good & other times not so good. Do you think a shoulder length wig for an updo would work for me?? By the way, I have so far lost close to 40 pounds. I am very proud of you! You look GREAT!!!

Very informative video! For my first trial with wigs, I just purchased two synthetic pixie styles (on sale) that I hope to alternate. I stuck to the pixie style because that’s how I’ve worn my bio hair for many years and at 75 yrs. young, I look ridiculous in long hair. I may consider chin length at some point. We’ll see how it goes. Just wanted to say, your videos have been very helpful.

Thank you! I think short hair wearers have so much success with synthetic and can save LOTS of money over human hair. It may take trial and error to find the perfect style or color (especially color because you can't color them, although you can darken them with markers) but once you do you are golden!

Great informative video. I’ve never bought a heat friendly wig because I just don’t want to do so much work to care for it. Human hair wigs are way to far out of my budget. With wig prices increasing so much, some brands and styles that were maybe $350 or or so three years ago or no almost $500 and I cannot pay that I have gone back to more basic Cap styles.

I purchased Bell Tress Honey Bush. The heat friendly fibers felt thick and like plastic to me. I prefer anything from the different Aderans lines which are softer and silky.

Many people call this a "community" but I find it difficult to relate. I'm disabled and live on $13,000 a year disability. It seems all you "wig sisters" have 3 dozen wigs. If I tally that up, it's like $20,000s worth of wigs. I can't even afford more than one wig a year and yet all my "sisters" have dozens sitting in boxes on shelves. Some "community".... too bad wealthy people wouldn't settle for fewer wigs for themselves and sponsor someone who can't afford wigs. That would be something worthwhile to organize.

I have a few wigs but the total amount does not exceed 300$. They are synthetic pieces, mostly from Uniwigs, bought on sale. I guess those with expensive (300$+/per piece) like to mention it as it seems there is nothing glamour with a 40$ wig. It bugs me too to see that some can have dozens of wigs that cost a lot. It's not representative. It gives a feeling that having 1, 2 or 3 wigs only is bad. Maybe I would keep in mind that things are not always what they seem to be. Maybe people brag more about their wigs because it's the only way they think to get a feeling of being valuable or it's the only place they can talk about wigs because it's too taboo. Yeah there will always be people who are snob but it's not everyone. And there is nothing bad having 1 or 2 wigs only
