I actually store my wigs inside out in containers. They fit into cubicles so the containers are not very big and I actually do push them in tight and make sure the air is out of the bags. I never get box hair by doing it this way I think because I store them inside out!

Denise, I thought I would mention to you that, if you're concerned about the proximity of your window to your wig wall, they sell clear UV blocking window film that can be applied to the glass and might help preserve the colors as it's supposed to protect furniture from sun fading. I have not tested this or anything, but, in case you didn't know about it, I thought I would share the info.

Thank you! I had heard of that but never considered it. We just got new windows and they are supposed to help more than our old ones did, but I will look into that. Hugs!!

I put up the UV film on my windows to protect the art in my home. It really does help, and it's easy to install yourself if the windows aren't too big. (Buy film at Lowes) In my previous home the windows were HUGE so I hired a company to install. Cheaper than replacing the windows. You can also add a film layer to UV windows, and you can install a second layer on top of the first.

6" smooth styrofoam balls was the missing piece to my wall storage idea. Thank you!!! I bought peg board and 3" brackets, but couldn't figure out what kind of ball or cushion to use on the end of the bracket that would cushion and hold my synthetic wigs. Perfect!

I am challenged for wall space and counter space. I hang my synthetics like you do with hooks from one of those decorative ladders usually used for blanket/quilt storage. Small footprint and lots of storage! Plus I lean it behind a door so it stays out of the sunlight. Love your videos, thank you!

I have an antique amour where I keep my Human hair wigs stored inside on wig stands, I have several where open up a large baggy and pull over a vace so it’s soft for the wigs to be draped over. My synthetics I store in boxes and have them in some drawers. I sometimes lay a human hair wig in a drawer. I have a wig room that keeps me entertained. I’m a wigaholic I must admit. It helps me feel better because my bio hair is sooooo pathetic and depressing.

Great video and such helpful information. I live in a high desert, dry climate, and was noticing that my human hair wigs were drying out just sitting in my closet on a mannequin head. So now they live in a silk bag in their box. Thank you!

Denise...As always this is just what I needed 2C. I just downsized into a tiny apt with little storage. Thanks so much. I've got so many wigs hanging out on every inch of free space, my friends call them "Sandis girls" and greet them too when visiting! I do have another ? that's been driving me nuts. I've got a bunch of wigs that i put on wig stands at the beginning of my wig wearing journey in 2021 until I realized how foolish that was. Newbie thing. . Plus i never dreamed Id have so many wigs. I have NO IDEA the style name of the wigs. Very few of them have the name on the box (if i have the box)many don't. I see numbers on the inside label but they refer to color. It's very confusing!!! Thanks. If there's an answer, you're the one who'll have it! ❤

Thanks for this information on storing human hair wigs. I was wondering why my wigs were so dry. I washed and conditioned it, and even put morrocan oil on it. It's still dry😢.
@heywigsister6 ай бұрын
Oh no... sometimes that just happens with human hair. A lot of it depends on the quality of the hair, and how much processing was done to it. I find my blonde human hair wigs feel drier than my brunette.

when you syle a wig (synthetic or real hair) into a pony tail. Do you take the pony tail out or leave it in after each wear? Thanks for all your great videos, Denise!
@heywigsister4 ай бұрын
It depends on the wig.... it is recommended you take it out so it doesn't get cold set (meaning you can get warped or twisted hair fibers if you leave it in the style too long). Usually cold set only happens when the wig goes through extreme temperature changes, but it can happen without that. If it is a wig that I generally always wear in that style then I will just leave it. I have left wigs styled that I also wear down and I haven't experienced cold setting, but it is a risk.

I really needed this video. I’m storing all on my wigs on heads. I thought my wigs got dryer this winter but I talked myself out of it. I have the room to store the wigs in their boxes so I need to get busy packing them up:) Do you need tissue paper between the wig to keep it from getting pointy on top? All of my wigs are synthetic. And one more question since my two Dance wigs really dried out this winter do you recommend using the Aussie spray? I been looking for your video on how to restore curly wigs and I can’t find it. Thank again Denise for sharing your knowledge.
@heywigsister6 ай бұрын
I know a lot of people save the tissue that comes with the wigs and just put it back when they store them. That isn't a bad idea. As for the dried out wigs, I would use Bambu Silicone on them... just get the wig wet, coat the fibers with the product, let it sit on the fibers for about an hour (some people put it in a ziploc bag while it sits), then rinse it out. I've heard from dozens of wigs sisters who recommend this approach. I would test it out on an old wig just to make sure the scent doesn't bother you, though.... here is a link: amzn.to/4dkJi8C

I am going off the beaten path here. I bought a paula young wig Becky. they look so good on you. I am fair skin and the rooted on her was just to dark so I cut bangs on her they kind of stick out at times. do you thing I could use a heat brush on the bangs?
@DiannainSoCal6 ай бұрын
You should be able to use a low-temp hot air brush on the bangs. Just go slow, keep the heat low, and do a little at a time. I’ve done that on several synthetics. Go for it!
@heywigsister6 ай бұрын
I would make sure it is an all PLASTIC hot air brush with no metal on it... the metal gets too hot for regular synthetic fibers. You can also use a clothing steamer and a round brush or comb... that is my preference with regular synthetic if the hot air brush doesn't do it. This is the one I recommend for regular synthetic: amzn.to/4b46C8F

Should the wigs be turned inside out when stored in zip lock bags?
@heywigsister6 ай бұрын
Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, there is no hard and fast rule for that. If it is going to be stored for a LONG time I would make sure it is put in there carefully and that the lace is not kinked anywhere, or that might stay that way when you finally take it out.
@donnamurphy60866 ай бұрын
I as a Cosmetologist would never recommend putting human hair wigs in plastic bags or containers for storage. Hair is dead but it still needs delicate handling for getting the best use of them for years.
@heywigsister6 ай бұрын
I don't recommend putting human hair wigs in a plastic bag... I talked about using a silk bag for those.
