I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of days now. And learning sooo much more than I ever knew , and by the way you look great with your hair shaved down also ,like in this video , the biggest best tip which I did without ever hearing it online is to buzz your hair down to about 1/8 inch so it acts like a head full of Velcro, plus it’s cooler, I have a larger head and normally have to randomly cut the vertical lace (wefts) in order to be comfortable, I choose random cuts throughout the entire cap

This was a very helpful episode, imo. There's sooo much to figure out when you start to begin this journey. Choosing a style/color is hard enough, then it comes and sometimes it's a "now what? Do I keep it? How do I decide??" I have been there many times . It still happens. I have learned along the way that my initial impression/reaction isn't always my final impression. I have kept some pieces for awhile, that at first I was tempted to return, to discover the more experience I have the better I am able to make something work for me. Other times, I find after revisiting a style or color I know I am not going to keep it. It definitely takes patience ( & lots of YT video reviews)to figure it out. Yours are some of the best out there. 🤗❤

Hi Denise....Love your tips for us wig wearers. After 3 years of wig wearing I have narrowed down the brands and wigs that I absolutely love. First, there is Ellen Wille in Pretty, Glow, Arrow and Movie Star. I love her lace fronts and the fit and the fibers. I have 3 colors in Pretty....Champagne Rooted, Sandy Blonde, and Bernstein Rooted. Now Pretty is the perfect wig to wear pony tails and low buns. Warning....Never...Ever pull out the hair tie...it will break the structure of the wave and it doesn't come back. Trust me I know! The best pony tail you will ever get is with a banana clip. Yes ladies the banana clip is back it together with the claw clip. Next is Jon Renau's Gisele in Shaded Praline and Malibu Blonde. Absolutely beautiful and so many ways to wear the wig. And lastly, Belle Madame from Continental Wigs in the UK. The two styles are Aurelia in Vanilla Rooted and Selena in Vanilla Rooted. Both are curly and beautiful. Aurelia is shoulder length curly wig and Selena is real long but just as beautiful. It is the curly hair that one would want. I know Jamalia by Ellen Wille is the top runner for curly hair but these curly hair wigs puts Jamalia in last place. Oh, there is one more. Gabor's Radiant! I have four colors and it is the perfect wavy wig that hits the shoulder and looks so natural. I have never put a comb through any of them. I just use my fingers. Looks great with the front pulled back in a claw clip with a couple of tendrils pulled out around the forehead. I think I have my collection now. If I want to go a little shorter, I have Broadway by Mane Attraction in Butternut and Hailey by Tony of Beverly in Sand Stone Rooted.....both are great wigs. One more tip for keeping a wig on. My bio hair was so thin I just shaved it off. I love the wig grip, but it does ride up the back of your head and the wig goes with it. I have found that if you use a small amount of Stay In Place on your head (front, sides and back) and then place the wig grip on it a press down, you can be guaranteed that the grip and the wig doesn't move.

Thanks Denise! Very helpful. I just received my first Estetica, Deena, and having a rough time loving it on me. I'm going to try some of your tips because I really want to love it. I was expecting it to be roomy, as I heard Esteticas are, but alot of my hairline is exposed. Not sure if that can be resolved, no matter what I try. 🤔 It's hard to play with it too much if you think it's possible that you may return it. Anyway, thanks for another fantastic helpful video. You looked stunning in the long blonde estetica. Holy moly!!!!

I do recommend shaking a curly wigs... what I don't recommend is combing them out until you try to finger style it and see how that works. Some curly wigs need combing, some you can get away with finger styling (which preserves the curls a bit better).

Good info on here. I have bought several different styles and colors from Amazon just to learn first. I am just now trying to find my favorite style and color before i get a good wig to start with. I am learning how to pluck, trim, use concealer on the part, ect. I am also learning how to style them. Plus what type of cap like. I did get a wig grip. It doesn't stay on my head well. I guess the back keeps wanting to come up. How do you keep a wig down in the back? I have now buzzed my hair very low.
@sewingmachinelust536711 ай бұрын
Try Got2be Glued (drugstore brand) yellow tube of bonding glue. I put a pea size blob on my front a d on the back 2 sides of round occipital head bone. When it's tacky, put on wig grip, press, put wide headband on top and let it dry. Now grip is secure. Now put ur wig onto the grip. Practice each day til u know where exactly to put grip. At night, take wig off, dab glue areas thru and under grip with water, wait 20 seconds, gently pull from front to back, dabbing more water as u go. This is what I do that may work for you.
@sewingmachinelust536711 ай бұрын
Edit, after glue is dried onto grip, remove headband that was used for pressure before applying wig.

Question: what do you mean by "box hair"? You mean crisscross part on the crown? Or the wig is mashed from packing, Etc.....? Show us the wigs that you altered and why? Love your videos...
@heywigsister3 жыл бұрын
Box hair just means that the wig has sort of taken on the configuration of the box... mostly it means that it is flat and compacted either all over or in certain places. The crisscross part is not part of the box hair, and not all manufacturers so that. You can't change that, either, if you think you will return it.

A bang could absolutely be added to Kristen.... I think putting in a heavier bang on a wig that doesn't already have a shorter bang area would take more skill than I currently have, but I know a lot of people have done it.

The biggest problem I find with synthetic wigs is the shine. The fiber is unrealistically shiny, especially outside in the sun. It just screams fake hair. I wish they could/would do something about that. Also, the color you see on the videos is seldom accurate when you receive the wig. Very frustrating…
@heywigsister8 ай бұрын
Heat friendly synthetic do not have the shine that regular synthetic do. It has to do with the type of material they use. Regular synthetic is made from a plastic like material that reflects the light, whereas heat friendly are made of a material similar to polyester. I agree, that makes wig wearing challenging! As for color, so much impacts color. The lighting you are in is one of the biggest factors. That's why, about a year into wig reviewing I started to go outside with each wig to show the color outside as well. I always say, the color looks different inside vs outside (and even in different rooms inside) and they are all correct. The thing is, we don't really look at our hair in every room we go in so we don't normally see it on ourselves. In addition, the screen you are viewing it on matters as well. I have two monitors on my computer, and they show color completely differently from each other. I've had to learn which one to look at to get a more accurate color view.
