The Grand Illusion was my first album. I picked it out for my 9th birthday and I’ve been jamming it for over 40 years!! It still kicks ass.

John, it’s been a few weeks, I hope you are settled and happy in the new digs. Thanks for the Dennis DeYoung interviews. Both he and Jim Peterik live close to me in a southwest suburb of Chicago called Burr Ridge, Illinois. I’ve personally met them both. They are both positive, giving, down to earth people that enjoy making people happy with their music. An era that we probably will never see in music and within the camaraderie that we fans and fellow musicians have celebrated and experienced life with their beautiful songs helping to make life worth living as we grew up, and now keep us happy with always a song in our hearts from them now to hang on and continue to persevere as we continue to move on in our senior years. Thank you for all you do James McKinley, .......Worth, Illinois.

Dennis, my stoner buddys and all the rest in those days " got it" Smoking pot and listening to Styx at parties was a mainstay for many of those 70's parties.

very true about the illusion and dying. It’s a process that we have to live with, but we could also see the glass half full and live without going crazy over it, and find a place in the middle and enjoy what we got

Dennis DeYoung is a brilliant mind. Not just with regards to music, but regarding life as well. Somewhat cynical at times, but I think that’s part of his brilliance.

Some might say Dennis is too opinionated. However as someone who has listened to Styx and his solo work since the late 70s, I really like hearing what he has to say. In the songs he had to hide behind metaphors and symbolism to get his messages across. I am sure some like me paid attention and others just laughed and ignored whatever they didn't care for. It's always been that way. But now that he is pretty much out of the game of selling records, he can say whatever he wants. And I like the clarity of it. Thanks for the long interview with Dennis!

A 5 year old could do the same. He is awesome though. Remember, not too long ago we were going to freeze to death. Theres ALWAYS got to be a boogie man......AND if you notice, it all revolves around different ways to TAKE/STEAL our money....Unreal how people fall for it.....

I was never a huge Styx fan although I did own and enjoy the Equinox album. But I am definitely a Dennis DeYoung fan. A very entertaining series of interviews. And finally someone I can agree with on the Sex Pistols give me the Buzzcocks anyday.

As much as I like Dennis DeYoung's music and all he contributed to Styx he's kind of a wacky character. No wonder Tommy and JY parted ways with him. But he writes some beautiful music. I enjoyed his vocals and showmanship at his concert "Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx" at the Pacific Amphi-theatre in Costa Mesa, CA. Amazing talent!

Not that Dennis is bitter about the critics or anything. Or just cynical about life in general. But that's what he writes about. Can't argue with what works for him.
