If you see him in interviews, he describes himself more as a moderate/independent. And he's not just saying that to play devils advocate. There's a lot of Democrats who have similar views, in fact, Dennis's view on the middle east almost mirror those of Bill Maher.

@@wadexyz Hi! It's been 15 years since I wrote this comment as a wee conservative teenager. Since that time, I've been learning about politics and history and I'm kind of a completely different person now. I'm a democratic socialist and I have burned my copy of atlas shrugged. I watched this again and his bit comes across as a smug man with a very surface-level understanding of politics, but he HAS memorized the thesaurus and all pop culture before 1960. I don't find Dennis Miller remotely funny anymore, but I do admit he was the best the republicans ever had. The reason I couldn't find a republican comedian back in 2009 is because lefties and liberals are just better at it.

Seemed like polite audience laughing and clapping, to me - something to fill in the uncomfortable gaps when you're otherwise supposed to laugh or clap spontaneously. I gave him an honest listen, but he only got a few faint smiles out of me a couple of times. Miller can't hold a candle to Maher.
