I was a US Army Cold War Soldier under Carter then Regan. Ronald Regan took a lot of heat from the “left” back then but I saw him bring a sense of positivity to the Army that was still in post Viet Nam doldrums. A PFC with a wife and a child qualified for food stamps back then. Ronald Ray Gun revived pride of serving, and gave us a good pay raise too.
