Dennis Stratton contributed to the most genuine and original line-up of IM ever. In Phantom of the Opera, a song for which one life is not enough to hear, he made the trade mark of the harmony guitar a la Wishbone Ash. Dennis, Paul and Clive were too much for Steve Harris to control. He shot in his foot by firing them, and that sound was lost forever.

You are the only person I've ever seen that shares that view with me. IM was actually very different before Dennis joined. He made pretty much their whole catalog really pop. Aside from Clive's insane jazz like drumming, it was a lot of small refinements Dennis made that brought a huge difference took their stuff over the top. You can see in the Copenhagen footage of one of Dennis' last shows with them he had some serious stage presence, compare that Adrian at the Rainbow footage and it's night and day. Adrian IM is boring as fuck. I always found it strange that Steve would fire a legitimate contributor and on fire performer like Dennis then bring in Adrian, having listened to many bootlegs of IM on the Killer world tour, you can hear Adrian mess up during many performances. And he'd mess up bad. Which would piss me off if it was my band, especially listening to bootlegs of IM on tour with Dennis, he just gets better and better as the year he was with them goes on.
