You can get to the top of Switzerland’s Jungfrau mountain in one of the most scenic journeys of your entire Swiss visit, while on the same big day you can find time for several easy hikes and scenic rides by train and cable car, enjoying some of the world’s finest sights, walking Grindelwald's glacier gulch, and mountain trails near Wengen.

Plan to spend 2 hours at the day's main destination, the Jungfrau, at 9:50 nearly 4,000 meters elevation, enjoying the views, frolicking in the snow and experiencing the many exhibits on offer at the summit. Then take the train back down towards Wengen, then hop off along the way for an easy downhill hike at 18:07 in Alpine meadows to Wengen village. Next take a scenic round-trip train ride down to Lauterbrunnen at 19:29 and back up. A cable car ride then carries you on a different route at 21:20 back over the mountains from Wengen to Grindelwald, which is a lovely village to visit, plus you can take a hike there in a glacier canyon at 23:16 . Then take the train back down to Interlaken where you started the day.

Thanks very much. I got started with multiple screens 35 years ago, before the age of video camcorders, putting on slide shows with three screens, then it evolved, and is a good way now to combine Standard Definition with High Definition.

Thanks for sharing this video. Watching in awe and sad that I was unable to enjoy all these when I visited Switzerland early this month (April 2019) due to heavy snowfall. We did however able to get to the top of Mt, Titlis, but that was it. Ice flyer and Cliff walk were both closed. Grindelwald and Interlaken are such a beautiful place to visit as well. 👍♥️

Yes, it is a challenge, but we actually did it in one day as shown. You think that was exhausting? Try and reach the top of Jungfrau from Lucerne in one day, which I did when younger: kzbin.info/www/bejne/larMnIV-o5WSqqc

Yes, trails are safe, just bring your mobile in case of emergency, and there is very, very little chance of crime, except some pickpockets on the trains.

Hi. I'm actually staying in this area next month [August 2023] - arriving on Sunday evening, August 27th and leaving on Tuesday morning, August 29th. So yes, I have the whole day of Monday, August 28th to tour the area. For just a day, would you recommend a Jungfrau Travel Pass [190 Swiss francs - this pass does not include Top of Europe] plus 75 Swiss francs for the Eigergletscher ~ Jungfraujoch return tickets in order to kind of copy the activities that you did on this video?

Hmm... you can't go onto the Jungfrau by train. The 'Jungfrau' is the mountain itself, which is 4158 m high. The train takes you to the Jungfraujoch, i.e. the saddle between the Mönch and the Jungfrau. The Jungfraujoch is 3466 m, roughly 600 m below the Jungfrau.

can you advise what are the hotels to stay at Interlaken nearby train station going to Jungfrau? And hotel to stay at Grindelwald to stay for 2 nights? I like Hotel du Nord and Hotel Carlton Europe in Interlaken, a few minutes walk from Ost station. You could see most of the region with 4 nights, but more is always better. Grindelwald hotels you'll need to search for yourself.

I have a question, when you walk between these places, do you just follow signs at the road, or do you have special maps/books describing the routes? I'm travelling to Switzerland in about 3 weeks and would love to go hiking around the countryside.

When walking there are usually signs that point the way and tell you how far, in minutes, to get to each destination. However good maps are always helpful for the big picture, and for dealing with a branch in the trail that has no signpost. Maps can be easily purchased in the shops, and go to the website for the government map service, swisstopo which has excellent on-line interactive maps with great detail you can grab using screen capture, and maps for purchase.

Thank you! Based on these recommendations I found an app for my iPhone called "Swiss Map Mobile" which is based on swisstopo maps and has functions like official footpath network, route planning and vocal guiding, POIs, offline support and other stuff. Can't wait to explore the swiss countryside and alps!

Why come to the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland? Because it shares the distinction, with the Valais Region, as home to the tallest and most vast glacial region in Switzerland. The glaciers are retreating with global warming. Sadly, Some of the lower glaciers will disappear within the next 20 years. So, if they float-your-boat, it’s time to get thee to the Jungfrau Region now.

Thanks for this Video Dennis. Its very informative and well made. Need a small help. You went up a different route and came back a different route. What about the cost of Cable cars in between. I will be having a Swiss Travel pass so all trains will be covered but I am worried about the cost of Cable cars. So, each Cable car will be cost differently or is there a Return Ticket togeteher for different routes included. Thanks!

The Swiss Travel Pass is excellent, but does not cover many mountain trains like to the Jungfrau, but you generally get a 50% discount - just show your pass at the train station to purchase tickets. Cablecars are usually extra also. The pass does include mountain excursions to: Rigi, Schilthorn and Stanserhorn, Check their website for details.

I always feel sorry for the Swiss cows having to hear those clonking great bells round their necks every time they move an inch 😕

it is there for a very good reason... a bell is worn around the neck of free-roaming livestock so herders can keep track of an animal via the sound of the bell when the animal is grazing out of view in hilly landscapes or vast plains.....
