It's probably that cheap promo usb stick from china where you can custom engrave your logo, google it.

Can I record my mix directly onto usb, as with the pioneer xdjrx?

You will not be able to record directly to a flash drive or hard drive attached to the MPX8000 USB hub, but Serato does offer an option to record your mix with their software.
