Good point. It seems also that it uses the same Play / Cue buttons as the mc7000 / mcx8000, sc5000, sc5000m. This button module is made out of plastic and it breaks quite frequently with use. See the DenonDJ forums. The part is very expensive from Denon, like $200 and often out of stock. They need to get on top of this with Service / Parts supply. Especially for items that are out of warranty.

No hard drive is "built-in". You have to supply and install your own. You unscrew a little panel on the bottom side, and it will accept any 2.5" SATA drive. Either mechanical HDD, or a SSD drive.

Woooow Phil... I love so much this first review about the Denon Dj Prime4. In only 10 minutes you can show us the principals advantage about this new stand alone Dj controller. As first impresion, this dj controller have 4 principals characteristics like 4 channels, 10" touchscreen, stand alone performance and easy mapping dj funtionalities. The next step would be a long time dj use session for confirm stabilited performance, connectivity and durability. the comparison with Pioneer XDJ RX2 is neccesary, though Prime4 have directtly adavantage with 4 channels. Pioneer have had a monopoly in the DJ arena for many years. Would really like to see Denon be a serious contender because after seeing this review they've packed alot into a unit that offers exactly what DJs require..Would love to know what the audio converters sound like.

if anyone is old enough to remember when home stereos were around. pioneer was a "good" brand. but denon was an audiophile brand usually costing much more. as far as their dj stuff. ive had many of there gagdets. unless you are tied to pioneer for work reasons. check a denon out and just see if you like it

It depends - if you get used to the central large screen of the Prime 4 and navigating with it, you may have a bit of difficulty navigating a CDJ-2000NXS2's screen :)

If you're using your gear at gigs it's irrelevant what the industry standard is - the SC5000's are the best media players on the market

@@TheFunkloft Yes they paid him, but if they were no good he would not continue to use them. He is one of the reasons the sc5000 gear was proven to be as competitive and competent as it is. Check out his channel when you get a chance he list the festival dj's that use the sc5000 gear along with him. I have been using denon for a while i prefer it over the pioneer sz controller i have. As a matter of fact you can by my sz if you want. I have not used it in over a year. The only thing i like on it is the fact that i could use fx on the microphone and change peoples voice when they were using it. That was pretty cool. But i have an mc6000 that is rock solid, i use it when i need two systems at an event. My main console is the mc7000 and it has been perfect for me smaller than the sz and multi functional with no issues in over a year. Now i will be getting this prime 4, but i will still bring my laptop as back up connected to one of the channels. I do karaoke and VJ events as well as just dj, so i am not looking to get rid of my laptop. But this prime 4 is at another level. Denon has listened to what dj's have been asking for and it's only going to make the market better for us as other manufactures will follow. Have a great weekend man and keep em dancing.
