Thank you so much for mentioning that this isn't a race. I am constantly reminded by my family that the clock is ticking and i need to figure out right now what I am going to do. So much pressure to start your future while your in the present moment can be very stressful and hold u back. I understand they mean well, but constantly hearing i am taking to long to get my life started can sabotaging my mindset. Your message about experiencing life and understanding yourself before you settle into a field you are happy with has brought me peace of mind. I have changed my major about 4 times and have decided to join a dental assistant program. The internet does scare me with constant reminders that this program will not be easy, but I am also excited to jump in and learn all I can and progress in this career. We don't get to choose our family, but it is hard when you need a healthy support system before you venture out into the real world. Videos like yours are necessary for people like me to help stand my ground and keep moving forward. Time will pass no matter what so don't compare your effort to the time it will take to achieve a goal. Just keep moving forward. Thank you for your inspirational message.

I am about to get out of the coast guard after an 8-year career to apply to dental school. I've been working on this transition for 3 years now, and I am so excited. This video is exactly what I needed. Thank you for sharing your story and motivating the next generation of dentists! I am holding back tears right now because I never thought I would be good enough for something like this all my life, and now I really believe that I can do anything (within reason) that I put my mind and heart into.

Love your attitude.....so much more is involved in making GOOD dentists! My Dad was a dentist , my husband. Dentist here in Gainesville and I am a dental hygienist....we see so many students that will make GREAT dentist and they have scores that are a little low. My son got into UF this year but chose another school. We are devastated! Had great score and defiantly should have gone to UF! Still not over it!

This is so inspiring! I took 2.5 gaps years after completing pre-nursing requirements only to decide nursing wasn’t for me. At first I felt lost and that my life had no direction but then during those gap years I learned more about myself and I met the right individuals in my life that motivated me to pursue this career path as I had been thinking about it. I just wasn’t ready to make the decision yet and I needed time to discover who I was and experience the world outside a classroom. More than ever do I feel ready and I am currently completing my undergrad biology degree. I’m loving it! Good luck to all of you undergrads! 💕

I just wanna say that in the U.S., the education system, it is a very very privilege to pursue an academic career. A lot of requirements just to get accepted? With a lot of letters of recommendations; two from the academic faculty members, two from the field's jobs, related to the career, and a personal letters, (essay). A lot of experience of it, internships, and volunteers jobs. A hight GPA >3.6, and so on, etc. Plus, you gotta pass a panel interview and much more like passing the admission exam! All that? Like all those science classes that you already got and passed (prerequisites) are worthless to go to school and graduate from your lovely job in the world? I mean, why is there a such privilege? In a normal world, all these filters should be abolished, it's unacceptable. Why? Because there are so many people that are uneducated or under graduated, just because of that bureaucracy. Too many questions been asked just to apply! When a government complaints about "why so many crimes in the cities, too many homeless, or too many jobless, and poor families," these are the reasons. No one's questioning about that. No one's cares about it. But the education system cares about the number of people getting gradually graduated. Keeping the minimum. School should not be so expensive. It should be there for all those who wants to go to school and get educated in whatever career your heart follows! No excuse!

It‘a not unjustly hard to get into higher education such as dental school. There must be a process of weeding out people who will not graduate or succeed in the profession because the school needs to reserve that spot for someone who will. Schools don’t need to become easier, people need to get better.

@ADEAGoDental6 жыл бұрын
The two degrees are equivalent! Which degree you get depends on which dental school you attend - there's no practical difference between the two.
