I just received a sample of this Dentapreg mesh from the Chicago LMT lab day show. Does anyone have a suggestion on alternate ways of heating the mesh prior to placement. Can I wave the mesh over a Bunsen burner for example? Or is the iron mandatory? Can't wait to see the end results!

Hi Tony, the iron is not mandatory. But we have found that it is by far the easiest and fastest way to heat the mesh evenly. We have tried many ways of heating it up (dipping it in boiling water, using a burner, oven, etc.) and it takes longer and does not heat it evenly. But go ahead and try the burner, if it does not work and you have to heat it again with a different method, the strength characteristics of the mesh will stay the same. (in other words: repeatedly heating the mesh does not diminish its strength, it will just make it slightly less pliable next time you heat it up). Let us know how you like the result!
