Denver Airport - Check in and Walkthrough

This video shows us arriving at Denver Airport (DEN) via a rental car shuttle, checking bags for our Delta flight, and then making our way through security before reaching our gate. The video was made in early March 2021 when COVID restrictions required a mask on all flights and at all airports.

This will be my first time ever getting on a plane and stepping foot inside the Denver airport. I was super scared to get lost because i had no idea what to do! This video was soooo helpful!!! Thank you so much!!!!

Just to let you know - (maybe it will help give you confidence) - this video was made the first (and only) time that I had ever flown out of Denver. I just followed the signs and BAM! before I knew it I was at the gate waiting for my plane... Also, thanks for the comment!

Good Video, I haven’t flown in a long time so I’m flying from Medford,Oregon making one stop in Denver and making my destination in Southern California so to continue do I have to go to the TSA again and do I have to get another boarding pass?

If your flights are all part of one reservation with your airlines, you should get two boarding passes at the beginning and not have to go back through security again.

Only once has it taken me more than 30 minutes from walking in the front door to be at my gate, and that was only because i was flying internationally, during October 2021, so a lot of travel restrictions still in place, for the pandemic. One thing I wish they did differently, though, is to have built a walking tunnel alongside the train, like Atlanta did.

Yes they should because if the train goes down they have to provide an inefficient shuttle service.

How do you know your bag needs to be checked or not? I’m having trouble with figuring that out. I bought a small luggage but afraid won’t fit on top of our seats on the plane

Check your airline’s website. Most airlines have very similar limits but there are differences. One such difference can be seen between Delta and Southwest. Delta allows 22”x14”x9”, while Southwest Airlines allows 24”x16”x10” for carry on luggage.

How long did it take you to get through airport security? Like what time did you get there till you got to your gate?

It took me about 15 minutes to check in and drop my luggage, about 20 minutes in security, and maybe 10 minutes to walk to the gate. However there have been recent instances of crazy long times waiting at security from some news articles I’ve seen.

The airlines generally recommend to get to the airport 2 hours before your flight for domestic flights.

I was in and out of Denver International five times during June, 2021. I have TSA Pre-Check via Global Entry, but only Clear was operational. Had to stand in line, remove shoes, belt like everyone else. Unacceptable! DIA is the third busiest airport in the U.S.! I'll be back there on Monday (November 1, 2021.) Sure hoping the Security situation's been addressed! Also ... as big and busy as this airport is, why so few Clubs for Priority Pass holders?

Denver’s airport has had a lot of very recent issues with security lines. Yesterday I just read of some upcoming improvements that they are making to the TSA screening process but according to the news article they don’t begin until November 2nd. It's weird, I've only seen this at American airports lol. The rest of the world connects the drop off belt to the main carousel, so the only lifting is done in the beginning by the pax.

I'm flying to Arizona to surprise my best friend. I'm terrified. I don't have a state ID I just turned 18 but they said I can bring a school ID, birth certificate and credit card in my name. Ive been told to go to TSA and explain and they will take me somewhere. I'm still terrified I'll mess up, Please give me advice on how to do this With my situation if you can. Thank you

Upon looking at the TSA website all that I can find that remotely is similar to you situation is this “In the event you arrive at the airport without valid identification, because it is lost or at home, you MAY still be allowed to fly. The TSA officer may ask you to complete an identity verification process which includes collecting information such as your name, current address, and other personal information to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint. You will be subject to additional screening, to include a patdown and screening of carry-on property.” (And this mentions if you forgot your ID and I personally don’t like the idea of “may” be able to fly. I would imagine the main problem would be that without a government issued ID is that the TSA cannot verify your identity and appearance from any of the databases they have access to. If you have time I’d highly suggest going and getting a REAL ID compliant state issued identification card from your home state. Getting one may help preventing your surprise from being ruined.
