We stayed in Denver, Colorado, for a few nights, stopping in to see the Colorado Railroad Museum and taking a ride on the narrow-gauge mountain Georgetown Loop Railroad. While in the mountains we also took a tour at the Argo Gold Mill & Tunnel and a wander through the local town of Idaho Springs. Downtown Denver was a good wander too - we finally managed to visit a state capitol building - it was as ornate as you'd expect. We spotted some dinosaur footprints, and then drove the very scenic I70 through the Rockies to Salt Lake City, Utah. An overnight stop, we had just enough time to catch up with Greg's old mate Gary (still has his kiwi accent after many years in the US) and a look at the Mormon Temple downtown, then drove (speedily) across the salt flats on the way across Utah.
