I went to the railfans weekend at the Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad yesterday, I rode the trains and saw many layouts, they had both 464 and 152 running that day

Lovely video. The beautiful trestle at 1:53 with the Union Pacific train going across it was built in place by my grandfather. Brought back a lot of great memories to see that.

Great little tour my friends! That was fun. We had a mom and daughter from my Civil War reenacting unit crash at our house last night and they got to see the Pacific Crest in person for the first time. Of course nothing is running still, but they were marveling at the scenery and structures. Mom says as she turns into the room, "Wow! This is like being in Colorado in the 40's!" My first vindication of place and time!. Now, seeing this that you shared has given me further inspiration for further detailing of what has already gone in. The girl diving off the trestle was awesome. Unfortunately my Cashe la Poudre River crossings are over shallow water in late September of '42. But, I find a way to include that somehow. I visited the Co. RR Museum back in '85; but, I don't recall there was a downstairs. Too many concussions! So, thanks again for this one. It's going into my "bookmark" collection!

Hi there, Toy Man. New subscriber here. I really enjoy how you pace your shots. You keep the camera in place for that perfect amount of time to let the viewer really absorb all that's happening! I'm a millennial but I notice a lot KZbinrs my age and younger really keep storytelling and videos at a fast pace. It's refreshing to see someone take their time and really enjoy what they're seeing!

Old slow and in the way. But we have fun and we like a slower pace. Welcome on board!! Hope you never find us boring. And tell you friend!!

Slow is wonderful. Especially when it comes to seeing fascinating things! Thank you. My partner and I have watched a lot of your videos and zero of them are boring. She's actually from Utah and recognized some of the highways you and Karen were driving down. We're on the east coast but she said a perk of your videos is that she "gets to hear people speak Utahn."

COOL!!!! There are 6 as I recall in LA, 4 for sure. They have been used to run special trips on Amtrak, but Amtrak just pulled the plug on that. (idiots) So the cars were sold to a guy who plans to get that going again as soon as better management takes over at Amtrak. If ever...

If this is the same Denver HO club, then it has been around a very long time. If so, then it was once located in South Denver, in the 1950's, in the basement of the Mayan Movie Theater. There is a B&W photo of a club scene on page 35 in the revised edition of "Scenery for Model Railroads" by Bill McClanahan, second edition, 1967. I first saw the club at the Colorado Railroad Museum in the early 1960's as a kid. Do they still have the coin-op machine where you put in a quarter to run a train on the layout?
@ToyManTelevision6 жыл бұрын
HI. Don't think so. There were some AMAZING clubs in down down but now gone.... As far as I know (which is little) these guys have always been here. But not sure. Anyone out there know?
@randylee46166 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Denver HO Model RR Club was in the basement of the Mayan for many years. We've now been in the basement of the Colorado RR Museum for 50 years. It was February 1968 that we moved into our present location. We installed the coin boxes in the early 1980s. Initially, there was just one to run a train, and then a second was added to run the amusement park. BTW, that was me running the layout, which we do every Tuesday afternoon from 1-4.
@ToyManTelevision6 жыл бұрын
WOW!!! That was cool. I first saw the layout in 1984. Not sure what it was like exactly, seems mostly the same.. but geeeezzz ... that was 34 years ago!!! Now this club is old school!!!!!!!.

Did you say in a earlier show that you road the California zephyr? If so do you have any video or photos of the train you could do a show on?
@ToyManTelevision6 жыл бұрын
HI. I rode the Rio Grande Zephyr many times. I remember when the California Zephyr became the Rio Grange Zephyr in the 70's and when the Rio Grande Zephyr stopped in 84. Both very sad days. I THINK I rode the California Zephyr. Watched it many times, and my Grandfather had family in Chicago and so went there all the time on the train. About half the time he rode the Zephyr as it had the better but longer ride. I would stand and stare!! AND the crew!! The lucky crew!!! The (always) black men that crewed the train. Looking sooooo sharp in their white coats. One of these guys the worked Silver Sky as bar tender was one of the coolist men I ever met. AND he stayed on to 1984 on the Rio Grande Zephyr. Those last years he had a cassette player in the car and played jazz tapes and talked jazz. All I have is a few photos. Sad. But in those days....
