@@AlyxCoe check out JCS Criminal Psychology on KZbin...the channel takes police interrogation footage and breaks down, step by step, what the detective is doing and why...also, what the suspect is doing in response and why...how if the person is lying or being truthful can be determined. Its amazing, you'd love it... Chances are you already know the channel

Why in the hell do they have the witness stand right next to the defendant table is within a fewfeet!

I agree with you, it's very unusual to have the courtroom set up this way... especially since they typically place them close to the jury so that the jury can see their expressions and body language up close. To put the victims through the anxiety and trauma of being that close to their attacker again, is awful...I admire and respect the strength it must have taken to walk within feet of him and stay composed. The only exception, that I can see why in this case it *could* be beneficial as a defense tactic, is for him to be forced to be face to face with the devasting aftermath of his massacre. Maybe they were going on the hopes that poor Caleb being wheeled infront of him, and seeing the damage he's done up close.. would illicit some empathetic reaction. But where they fell short, is during their long-winded opening about his "severe" mental illness and throwing out factual data about schizophrenia... Because if they truly believe their own defense, they would know going into this trial that he is incapable of feeling or expressing empathy for others. His blank stare is like looking into a black hole, void of any emotion that would connect him to others. Which means, their attempt to humanize him backfired.
@Aurora-Nyx
@Aurora-Nyx 2 жыл бұрын
@@shebac6907 schizophrenic or psychotic disorders don’t mean someone is incapable of empathy. You’re thinking of psychopathic which is a completely, completely different thing altogether. I don’t have schizophrenia but I have bipolar 1 which means I have schizophrenic like features whenever I have mania and I can assure you I feel empathy and that the ability to have feelings for others is absolutely NOT a symptom of either disorder! Also, relating more to James Holmes, and not that I am defending him or his actions at. ALL. because I believe everyone is responsible for his or her actions regardless of any mental illness we may or may not possess, but a flat, catatonic affect does not necessarily reflect what a person is FEELING inside. That’s the trouble with things like extreme introversion, social anxiety, or even resting bitch face lol, people can make very inaccurate assumptions about one’s character if the only thing they’re judging you on is your outward appearances…

I just know Spangler wanted to object a bunch of times when Katie medley was in the stand but didn't bc of how sympathetic Katie was as a witness. She did a wonderful job. Very brave and managed to squeeze in several lines that must have really hit home to the jury. The defense must have hated that.

I'm very much irritated by the way the prosecutor is asking questions to the witnesses, I understand that this is a trial and not a casual gathering however the way she asks the questions is so harsh, and she asks them so fast that she is sluring the words sometimes I mean... not delicate AT ALL again, she probably isn't there to be delicate but come on.

This judge needs to take lessons from the judge in the Joel Guy Jr case and act like a human being and also have some manners. Also the defense lawyers are really annoying and probably didn't do their client any favors by objecting so much to victim testimony.

I have now actually watched the entirety of this trial and I just had to come back to this comment that I made very early on and apologize and take back my statement about this judge. My comment was hasty and based on just a few minutes of hearing this judge run the courtroom. He actually did an excellent job of staying fair to both sides and keeping the lawyers in line. The defense really tried everyone's patience frankly and the judge handled it well. The way he took Miss Nelson to task about the miscarriage was fantastic and she should have been ashamed of herself. Anyway, that's all I wanted to say. I shouldn't have been so hasty in my judgement.

What does the victims stories have to do with James being insane at the time of the killings? How do they help the jury decide if James was insane at the time. They keep showing surgery photos and not injury photos. Same with the girl who was shot in the stomach... They show her calf injury not her stomach. I don't know if there are legal reasons for this.

Establishing a full time line of all the events is important if the decision ever gets appealed. If it were to go to a higher court no further information is presented so all bases have to be covered now. The people have to prove he was sane at the time of the events so witnesses explaining the way events took place could be used to argue that the events happening in the same way they were planned shows james clearly thought through the event.

The woman prosecutor is sooooooo annoying. Her questioning is flat, she repeats EVERYTHING that is answered by the witness and she is one of these women who thinks that making her voice go really low and raspy at the end of each sentence/statement is sexy when in fact it sooooooooo annoying and sounds ridiculous. I've noticed more and more women doing this lately and it's def not sexy or cool.

It's important to rephrase what's been said by witnesses in a clear and concise fashion so that there's no confusion with what goes on the record. As for your comments on her voice, I consider them to be rude, unnesacary and irrelevant to the proceedings.

SublimeSati Seriously? All you need to do is apply some common sense. The witness knows NOW that the shooter was a male and so she referred to the shooter as "he." However, at the time of the shooting, she did not know his gender b/c he was covered in armor.

chris Morrison It's just weird that a random female can discern a certain type of body armor but can't tell if the person wearing the armor is male or female. If you get a good enough look to recognise a certain brand of body the sex of the person wearing it should be evident. Not saying she's lying, I just find it interesting when people remember certain details over seemingly more easily identifiable details.
