this video basically sums up what it's like being a human, especially with mental health problems or addiction. The car represents the mind, the guy is actually his True Self under the mask of social conditioning, traumas, mistakes that put a tape on him and he keeps making choices that ruin people's lives (the people he ran over), he is not in control of his mind, but his True Self is screaming and trying to get control over the car. This is painful to watch... One of the best videos and songs ever made.

Actually in the lyrics he never literally mentions the phrase "I'm wrong", it's talking about wrong decisions, happenings and accidental coincidences in general, being right or wrong is only subjective and therefore the idea is an illogical fallacy, you take wrong or right decisions based on previous information that was predetermined/existed before you, that means "you" are not the "owner nor creator" of any facts, so it's more like "i took a good/bad decision based on X (or none) info. which affected my action final result", you are obviously still responsable for embodying that but it's not an individual fact that "can only affect you and no one else ever", every decision is always 'one of the' objective factual possible paths to follow inside a certain situation and that 'path' is actually the one that's right or wrong in every single case, the person is simply 'unconcious of the facts/ignorant' or 'not cold enough', which means nobody is ever individually right nor wrong in that over-simplified and conflicting way of thinking it, this is the perfect song to explain this hah, cheers. Edit: So it's basically detaching your 'self' or 'ego' from the concepts of 'knowledge' and 'decision', consider that most of the time when people use the 'you're wrong, i'm right' statement, it's all very emotional, it's an 'ego battle' on who wins the temporal situation, who's the owner of the knowledge and the imaginary competition, a territorial animal thing, which is irrational and useless to begin with, see how sometimes they can't have even find a single argument and then turn it into a 'personal attack', becuase the only thing that determines what 'is' and what 'is not' is 'objective evidence', therefore we, the 'living beings', are irrelevant to the facts, as they are not optional.

Coming from a good home with a nice childhood, everything I touched in my adult life, more or less turned out wrong. I grew in a violent abusive home as a child. I left home at age 21 and joined the military. Nothing prevented all the horrors of life. Childhood trauma haunts me and I am miserable. My time in the military wasn’t great. The training was intense and left me with disabilities. Coming home after 4 years in the Army was difficult to adjust. I regret leaving home but it was either that or put up with my father who was a violent alcoholic. This was back in 1996. I left my gf for the Army which was my biggest regret. I know I hurt her and have carried that guilt ever since.

Nicht sehr überraschend bei einer Band, die schon so viele Jahrzehnte existiert und damit bereits viele Lebensphasen mit allen Höhen und Tiefen durchlaufen hat. Zudem bringt wahrscheinlich jedes Bandmitglied eigene individuelle Erfahrungen mit ein. Bei drei so individuellen Typen wie Martin, Dave und Fletch kommt es zu einer hohen Schnittmenge mit den Lebenserfahrungen der Fans. Außerdem: So unterschiedlich sind wir Menschen nicht. Bestimmte Punkte im Leben durchläuft fast jeder. Womit ich die Besonderheit der Musik von DM in keinster Weise klein reden möchte. Ich weiß sehr gut, was du meinst. Aber ich hab Fans von Take That oder Backstreet Boys schon ähnliche Sätze sagen hören. ;) Keine Seltenheit, wenn dich Bands ein Leben lang begleiten und du schon sehr jung von ihnen geprägt wurdest. i was there too. i traveled solo by bus from Hermosillo to Las Vegas. 13 hr drive, but it was worth it. second time i get to see them live, saw them on the global spirit tour in phoenix september 27th 2017. they played this too. Depeche gave me courage to travel solo twice, since i don't have friends to tag along that like Depeche as much as i do too. this is how powerful and meaningful is to me. lost three close friends last year as well. the guys that glued everyone together. recent album was the message i needed to have a personal catharsis and meaning to cope with grieving. my condolences to Dave and Martin for an irreparable loss as well. Memento mori isn't the album want: is the album we need. plain and simple

Omg yes! I saw them a couple nights later, in San Antonio. (About a 9 hour drive from where I live in central Arkansas, outside Little Rock.). If I had the money, I totally spend it to go see them in Europe (probably Germany; European crowds just seem more into it, overall. Way less of them just stuck behind their phones all night like here. But so far from what I’ve seen and the general consensus of others is the San Antonio had the best crowd overall. Way more people up dancing and singing along the whole time.

One of, if not their best video ever. The idea for it is simply breathtaking and deceptively chilling at the same time. The simple premise of the car wrecks going in complete temporal reversal, as if a VHS tape is in rewind where all the events go flawlessly backward. Yet because in the "future beginning" the man's hands were already bound, the Michael Myers' type horror mask was already on (very cool idea btw!!!!), the steering wheel and entire ignition assembly for the car were already gone. Yet due to the mixed paradox of it all, the man's injuries, bound hands and damage to the vehicle hadn't occurred in a linear fashion, yet when the story begins some elements are fine and some are already beyond repair. It's one of those music video plots that could've easily made a terrific horror-science fiction movie like say, the original "Terminator" or "Alien". And the true tragic irony, since there was no way to prevent what had already happened (from the driver's POV), is about as creatively deceptive as it gets...and it all goes along with the lyrics seamlessly. Thank you DM and Patrick Daughters for your brilliant interpretation for this amazing song!
