This is most definitely not their normal sound. Butter is just a summer song. The western media only portrays them as a pop group, when they are far more than that. Bts talks about real things such as: mental health, child abuse, cyber bullying, female empowerment, social and economic injustices and more. They talked about things that are forbidden to be talked about, almost being blacklisted by the South Korean government.

Yes, this is true. That doesn't diminish this song. Maybe they enjoy doing lighter more fun, pop songs sometimes. As for Western media, they're just beginning to explore something that is relatively new in North America. I've only ever heard BTS referred to as a KPOP group here, not simply a pop group. Western popular(pop) music also has songs that deal with the serious issues that you mentioned. Why do you sound rather pissed off at the West?

As a newer ARMY from the west.. and getting my first real taste of them(i had heard fake love and liked it but never went any further with who they actually were) from hearing Dynamite and watching the video i can tell you that it wont take long for Westerners or anyone else that they are multitalented multidimensional young men! And that they excel and blow away with every project, song, and dance they take on! And that they are fun but yes they have issues, feelings, problems just like every human on the planet! And their songs showcase every subject of things people go through and every genre of music pretty much their is! And noone needs to be schooled in this. Its fact and they show it themselves in all they do. They are also known for their hardwork (and never slacking even becoming millionares) and extreme care and appreciation for their fandom which is why it is the biggest and best and most diverse in the world! I do not speak Korean yet have every song in my playlist and love them and sing them! You dont have to speak the language to get what they are singing about. The way they feel their music and other artists songs shows in their facial expressions and movement. So we westerners dont all refer to them as just a pop group! They are so much more than that and we know it rather quickly upon becoming a fan. Now ill give that maybe western media may portray them as such which is quickly realized by listening to their other songs that that is a misconception again portrayed through media all over at times (i mean they are from the SKorean K POP industry... KPOP\POP hello?) but you quickly see that the term KPOP idol doesnt even do justice to these boys! Just a little bit of info for those who think we westerners only see them as POP stars! They are stars of course but we get who they are really and what they mean and where they are coming from! They havent become global phenomena just by being Pop stars and i think that speaks for itself in letting other folks know who they are and just how talented and humble and well rounded for a boy band from SKorea they really are! Just to let you know, Shawn Stockman (Boyz2Men) said their 2019 Rose Bowl concert was one of THE best concerts he had ever been to in his life. i'm not in the business and haven't been to as many as he has but did get to see them in Soldier Field and can say it was the best I have ever seen. Three hours of pure energy and joy and all them with no opening act. They are the real deal. Thanks!

Lol, it's cross-race effect or face blindness. A lot of people find it difficult to differientiate faces of an ethnicity other than their own. A lot of BTS fans had the same problem when they first started watching BTS, so don't let anyone tell you differently. It's weird, though, because once you get to know them they don't look *anything* alike and it's weird to think that I ever had trouble telling them apart. LOL, also, don't feel bad about struggling with Jimin's look. You would NOT be the first person to be confused by his gender. Yes, he is a dude ... he is a very, very pretty dude with a lovely high voice, lol.

So true! I remember watching a quick video with "hints" on how to tell them apart right at the beginning and stuff like Jin's wide shoulders or Hobi's heart smile was very lost on me and didn't help AT ALL while watching music videos. It just took me a full week of binging their content in every free moment haha. But now over 3 years later I find it so weird to think there was a time where I found it difficult.

Yep. I'm genuinely face-blind even for my own ethnicity, so I have sympathy for anyone who has similar trouble. I had to learn their voices, pair them with their names, and learn their faces that way. They don't look anything alike to me now, but now I'm trying to learn other groups and it's back to square one lol! One thing this is teaching me, the BTS boys all have *very* distinctive voices. Some other groups, a few voices stand out, but the rest are very similar in tone and range, and that makes things difficult-er.

All other groups does not grab my attention, to me , they all sound the same and their music videos and sound is duplicates .. bts have rappers that sound different and vocalists that sound different, they have everything that I like, all the voice styles that I like all in one group and then added is the fact that I love dance groups and I love comedy ,. that shock on you looks raw...and familiar lol. yeh, that night, BTS won all 4 of the Billboard awards they were nominated for: Best Duo/Group Social Artist Top Selling Song Song Sales Artist btw, BTS is not new to the game (they started out as a hip hop group) - they've won hundreds of awards + nominated for hundreds more, including a Grammy. most their songs are performed in predominantly Korean (their native language) with English mixed in. but they've also performed in Spanish and have done full albums in Japanese... they're always practicing languages to connect with their ARMY global fans.they literally have a whole universe of projects under them to explore. i got into them late 2020, and am STILL finding endless content on them. they're the biggest/most popular band in the world for good reasons.

You wouldn't guess that only one of them is actually fluent in English, would you? :) The one who did the 'ARMY right behind us when we say so' bit. That's RM, the leader. He taught himself English by watching the sitcom Friends with and w/o subtitles. He does a lot of the group's songwriting, along with Suga (the first rapper) and they work closely with the production team as well. The other guys are learning English, they are pretty good at memorizing statements and can make themselves understood when necessary, but they aren't conversational yet and rely on RM to translate a lot. edit: 'Duality' is one of the most frequently used words in the fandom; I suspect you understand why. : D

"They all look alike". Makes sense. Ages 24-29, 5'9" to 5'11", Korean. When the Beatles came to America it took me about a year to figure out who was Paul, John, and George. Ringo was easy cuz he wasn't pretty like the other 3. Jimin is the one you wanted to know if he was a girl. He has an unusually high sweet voice and soft, almost feminine features. When I first saw them they were dressed in pastel lounge wear (Boy with Luv featuring Halsey) and I wondered if he was actually a girl. Side note: He is a trained contemporary dancer.

Butter is their second all English single. Bts debuted on June 13 2013. Bts has three rappers and four vocalist. Each member has their own solo projects, the rappers even have mixtapes which they release for free. They write and produce their own music, with the help of their in house producers in their company.

I'll break down who each person is based on when they start singing. So the first person you see walking onto set with the purple hair is Jungkook, the main vocalist and lead dancer. He is also the youngest, born in '97. At the 3:00 mark with the sunglasses is V (birth name Kim Taehyung), vocalist and dancer, born in '95. He has the lowest voice of the vocalists. 3:09 The third vocalist is Jin aka Kim Seokjin (please note that in Korea the last name is listed before the first name), and born in '92, he is the oldest in the group. 4:18 with the blond hair is our fourth vocalist, Jimin (Park Jimin), main dancer and lead vocalist, born in '95. Those are the four vocalists of the group. The other three are all rappers (and they REALLY rap in some of their other work, so if you enjoy hiphop more, you should check out some of their less pop-centered work. The rappers all also have mixed tapes and there are several songs that feature just the rap line and no vocalists.) The first rapper is Suga, also known as AgustD when doing his solo work. (I would recommend checking out the music video Daechwita ... I think it will blow your mind.) His birth name is Min Yoongi, and I believe he was born in '93. The second rapper with the deep voice is RM, birth name Kim Namjoon. He was born in '94 and is actually the leader of the group. The third rapper is J-Hope aka Jung Hoseok. He was also born in /94 and is also the main dancer/dance leader of the group.

@@sava9e266 Hobi is the dance leader. There’s a difference between the terms ‘lead dancer’ and ‘dance leader’. Hobi and Jimin are main dancers, Jk and Tae are lead dancers. But alongside his role as a main dancer, Hobi also holds the dance leader title because of all the work he does behind the scenes to teach, help out and make sure everything’s in order for their performances when it comes to the dancing

Hi, some things about this boys. *Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with the term "kpop". Kpop isn't a genre, Kpop is an industry in Korea that create music for kids/adolescents, and not all singers/rappers/musicians in Korea are "kpop" 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers 2. Bts compose and produce in all their albums, so is very personal, they sing about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read and search to understand the link in their videos. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Carl Jung. 4. The army love them because they are good people who started from a company in bankruptcy, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song or Activate cc. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals. Not because we like a group from korea that means we like all from that country.

There are seven members, and they are from South Korea, their original genre is K-POP, but they are not just pop. They rap, sing, and dance, they are very talented. A good introduction video is “The seven members of Bangtan” Rappers- RM, Suga, J-Hope Vocalist - Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook. Their music is mostly in Korean, so if you watch any music videos, turn on English subtitles. Not the auto-generated ones, but English. There are a few videos that don’t have captions, but they all have lyrics videos with the (loosely)English translation. I say loosely because not all words are translatable because their aren’t some English words that are in Korean, and vice versa.

Lmao suga and rm came out of the underground hiphop scene in korea and it definitely shows in their style! And yeah their energy is incredible, their concerts are over two hours and they spend a lot of it dancing, it's really amazing to see and you have to respect the amount of work they put in.

A couple things - 1 - They are all singing live, 2 - Jimin is the one you were questioning his gender, he gets that a lot. He has a very high voice range and he is a beautiful and handsome man. 3 - There are 3 rappers in the group - 2 of which who came from underground Korean rap and all three of them are amazing MC's. 4 - There are 4 vocalists that have amazing voices and have a high voice range. 5 - BTS won 4 BBMA awards from the 4 nominations they received. You're about to get flooded with comments from BTS's fanbase :) We're known as ARMY and we are a very passionate group. I've read a lot of the comments and they're great advice. If you want to dive into BTS, it's a really fun, wild ride. They have been around since 2013 and have a deep discography and history, so it's a very deep rabbit hole. Their songs are among many genres, have deep and meaningful lyrics, and beautiful music. They are a group of men, but NOT a "boy band." They are known for their AMAZING RAPPERS (among the best if not the best in K-Pop) -- they are legitimate rappers, not singers who happen to rap a little -- as well as their unique singers (you already noticed Jimin :) -- the blonde one with a high voice. He's very much a guy, but he gets that a lot. He's just got a high, unique voice and some delicate features). Their choreography is also FIRE, this is honestly nothing for them. "Butter" is their second all-English song. If you want to listen to their Korean songs, just remember to turn on the captions so you can see the beautiful messages. Their songs are about mental health, perseverance, overcoming hardship, loving yourself, and other deep, positive, needed viewpoints. I'm a 38 year old Mom in Indiana. I listen for their beautiful music. They have a super diverse fanbase. So glad you enjoyed, and thanks for giving this amazing group of men from South Korea a chance :)
