Thank you for posting this. Issey's work was the spark for my love of and career in fashion. When I wear his pieces I feel they're simply an extension of myself. His life, his talent, his metier -- truly one of the most talented and visionary designers ever. Rest Peacefully, Miyake-san. Your legacy will not be forgotten.

Loved Issey Miyake since I first saw time I saw his window display at Wilkes Bashford in SF in 1982 and was the premiere men’s fashion store back then. That same pants I found when they had a sale and had long belt like material attached to the pants and you had to twist it to make look like a rope. Only a few in 82/83 new who Issey was or familiar with his designs. I was a student and 19 at the time and didn’t have the money to buy Issey clothes. But found the money for the pieces I wanted and at 19, I didn’t let money stop me from getting what I wanted. Also, the more new and avant-guard back then I was there and was usually the youngest in fashion events. I got lucky around 1985, I was a the goodwill and found a pair of Issey pants that had a small tear where the draw string hole was and easy fix. I think a store donated it bc it was damaged. I think they cost me $7. So that’s my Issey story and I’m glad his designs and work is at legend status bc he deserves it. Nowadays, his clothes may not stand out as much bc of all the designers that came after Issey. But back then he was running solo and creating things that was never seen. His designs were all about art and craftsmanship. RIP Master designer Issey Miyake and one of the best that came from the 80 fashion scene. I know his career start in the 70s, but it was the 80s when ppl. we’re ready to receive and wear his clothes.

I was looking everywhere for this documentary. Someone else had it uploaded on youtube years ago and it got removed! Thank you for uploading this for more people to watch!

One of my favorites. The video I posted comes from a copy I had saved of the video you're talking about. However, the original audio was off and I had to fix it! Hopefully, I can get my hands on a physical copy of the documentary one day and digitize it properly.

I’ve loved Issey since his beginning, and every day I spritz a bit of his cologne on before I leave the house…
