Trust me bro, as someone else in their 30s, I don't know how some of these folks got the way they did. Too much sun or something. It can be a challenging decade, but it sounds like you've got good plans and projects ahead that you are looking forward to which seems excellent.

"too much sun" is hilarious that very well may be it. and thanks man, aging is definitely something I'm struggling a bit to come to terms with. It's helpful to me hearing that you see where I'm coming from.

The hero of a movie only ever shines after overcoming a personal downfall. Sounds cheesy I know... but it's true. Movie's always reflect life in some shape and form and there's no reason why the fundamental structure of a successful movie should not also represent a fundamental progression of life. Maybe sometimes that low point means something great is about to happen and we're transitioning into the next segment of our life.... it's just a little overwhelming at times, but I guess you wouldn't know unless you believed it and persevered to the other side. You're brave for sharing your feelings online and it just goes to show you're capable of overcoming shit, which not everyone can do, so take control of your life brother and get what you want.

YES!!! I have always felt this way too ever since I learned about "The Hero's Journey" in film school. I've never heard someone else say it like this! Thank you for such a thoughtful and encouraging sentiment, this means a lot to me.

all creative people go through depression .your brain is so active trying too many different things out. it will disappear through time. I'm an artist (painter) and also have started on music production which is doing my head in, but I will persevere. so good luck think happy.

You are not alone. Millions of us suffer from it. You are smarter and stronger than you know. And, please don't worry so much. Your anxiety is overwhelming you. Take it easy. You will be okay. Please don't be afraid to get help. And, please know that Jesus loves you. He will give you peace.

I recommend energy cleansing. Helped me a lot.

thank you! What exactly do you mean?

I tried to reply before but I guess it didn’t post all the way? Anywho I don’t know your religious beliefs or background, but even if you’re not religious doesn’t mean you have to knock the spiritual. I would start on KZbin and educate yourself about the importance of spiritual/energetic hygiene. Maybe see a healer/practitioner. But they can be pricey, I have done A LOT of cord cutting, energetic baths(salt soak), and the catholic practice of egg cleansing(limpia). I’ve done egg cleanses on my daughter since she was born. If you’re highly intuitive you may need to protect your head from evil eye negative energy. I really think I would start with some chakra balancing/energy cleanse. DEF cleanse your space you spend most time in. Esp a creative space.

Depression is mostly a choice, and usually the end result of continuously regurgitating negative thoughts. The constant worry of past and future (neither currently exist) is a bad habit developed over a lifetime and a certain recipe for disaster, but like all habits, it can be broken by staying present, making conscious choices, controlling the mind and learning how to fend off those old thought processes when they attempt to resurface. Stay focused in reality, not the mindless, emotional drivel the brain makes up. Nervous about age because of an Instagram video? See how ridiculous that sounds? Stop it! Creatives have a lot going on, so go hard. But also take time to recharge, because that is necessary too. Balance is the key to a good mix and a good life my friend...

First off thanks for such a thoughtful comment. And yeah the past/future stuff and resistance to the now is HUGE. For me, there's a very clear difference between the "choice" version of depression (which I absolutely sometimes allow myself to slip into) and actual "clinical" depression, ever since I was a little kid. Present moment focus helps because it makes it apparent whether I'm in the "choice" version or the chemical version. If I witness that I'm experiencing the choice version, I change it. But if I witness that it's the chemical version, there's really not anything I can do but carry on, wait it out, and sort of just watch it do its thing. I've come to understand that it's just a part of my neurological makeup. Really appreciate this comment, thank you x10000!!!
