I think most of the lists that I (and most of the people) do are unrealistic... Maybe that's why it's so frustrating. I watched an interesting video nearly a month ago: a therapist suggested to do several lists (2 or 3) with different goals depending on your energy level of that particular day: one, with the minimum goals of the day (like getting up from bed, getting dressed and having your meals, which can be more or less elaborated depending on your energy level), then a different list for the days in which the person feels a little more "energetic". That way, you can choose the list everyday, based on a little more realistic expectations. Maybe we push ourselves to hard... if you don't feel good, even getting up and having some simple meals is enough for that day and that should be your goal... then you can add a thing or two (like brushing your teeth) another day , when you feel better. Nobody can do everything on a long-unrealistic list, that stays the same no matter how we feel on different days or even on different moments of the same day . Maybe expectations should change day by day, depending on how you are feeling. Be nice, patient and forgiving to yourself. If you're not feeling well, if you're suffering, please tell your family or coworkers or neighbours about it and look for professional advice. We all go to hard times in life and even a call to an anonymous line that offers help is a great start, a first step that can make a big difference.

She was so good in this. As a person who has been diagnosed with clinical depression for 25 years, she portrayed depression excellently. The reaction of the husband is also typical of the reaction of people around me, may be not as harsh as he. This is why counselling should be for the family and not just the person suffering from depression.

The lady has bad depression, she suddenly got depressed during the middle of the ride and got into a car accident, luckily the child wasn’t hurt. She also forgot to pick her son up, probably happened before as well. The husband left her because he’s fed up, he’s tried to help her for years, I think 7? That’s quite a lot for someone to take on, especially helping someone with major depression. And I’m saying this as someone diagnosed with PTSD and MDD. It’s hard but it’s also hard for those helping me because I didn’t try enough, I didn’t try to help myself so it was hard for others to help me. The ex husband was a decent man, but I think his love slowly fell because of how much he took on and his concerns overwhelming him. He’s a human being, he didn’t get BORED of her, he was tired, he was angry, showing basic human emotions and no one should hate him for that. Sure he should’ve calmed down a bit but that’s not up to us. And I’m glad they separated, the woman needed someone else with unconditional support and true love. The ex husband did care but he prioritized the child more. The true love ended together and the ex moved on, for his own good because helping others with mental health for so long can also start to slowly deteriorate your mental health (of course this is different for all with how they handle it).

True. However, in my experience sticking with a good therapist you trust is critical. I decided that if I could do nothing else (which was most days) I would attend my appointments and trust that the professional would help me figure out how to recover. It took a while and I needed to learn new ways of thinking and reacting to the world because my biological reactions to things in life would never be the same as pre-depression. I decided in my mind this was no different than fighting cancer as it was just as life-threatening for me. So I would focus on the treatment just like someone with cancer has to stop everything to fight back. Illness and treatment were different but the concept was the same for me and helped me through the hurtful comments.

This is so scary, and so 100% accurate. When someone is experiencing such severe depression, they literally do not feel time passing. You are so sad or so numb, your thoughts are so many, you can be stuck in the same position for a long time and not realize the time is passing. I Remember when I was dealing with severe anxiety and depression and dissociation, I sat down at 12pm, ate, thought for some moments about everything in life, showered, thought for some moments, swept, when I looked at the time it was 9pm. and my heart felt like it dropped in my stomach.

@ni-ki is frying of course!! thank you for being so vulnerable to share and ask 💗. What I first want to tell you is that you aren't alone in what you are going through. and I promise you, you will get better, you will get through this, you will not feel this way forever. I remember being so sure I would NEVER feel joy or anything other than that state ever again in life. but it is a lie 💗, depression lies, anxiety lies, the thoughts saying it'll never get better, is only a symptom of depression. it is not the truth 💗💗💗. To be honest, what truly helped pull me out of this was Jesus :). Idk if you believe in anything, but I believe in God. I grew up Christian but.. when things got hard I ran away from God. in my darkest moments I turned to him and asked him to help me, I gave my life to Jesus and asked him to help me and he began healing me, he gave me joy, peace nothing else could give, I realized I don't have to go through life alone because he is with me every moment of the way, and he Loves you. So I want to tell you, He loves you so much, and sees you and is with you 💗💗💗. on another note, what helped me is taking walks, eating healthy, even when u don't feel like eating, please eat 💗. don't isolate yourself, therapy can be very helpful speaking to someone to guide you.

Well yeah it's hard for them too but they don't know how it feels to get more and more broken day by day until nothing is left of you except for a lifeless soul, a lifeless heart or even a lifeless body. The thing is we really try to be better but we fight something you can't imagine because it's not just demons but also ourselves. We try to fit in, to be better for our loved ones, we do not want them to feel like they need to cope with it and be supportive. Yes it is hard but also it's hard to say yes to getting help, it's hard to survive, every day feels like hell so please do not tell them to just smile more or be happy or any of that stupid stuff, it makes it worse. Best thing would be to get them to a doctor even if that means lying to them so please do not blame them for an illness they can't do anything about so easily

This drama's realistic portrayal of severe depression is amazing. I have never seen it done so realistically before. Yet people still don't understand how dangerous depression is. Depression is a disease with a very high mortality rate. Just because it doesn't always have physical manifestations doesn't mean it should be taken lightly. You can't say things like "snap out of it". Would you say the same to a cancer patient?

Hi, im a psychology student and I agree with what you said, but I'm sorry please don't call it a "disease", depression is a "disorder". According to dsm-5, Depression is classed as a mental illness and a mental health condition, but not as a disease. Disorders are often a collection of symptoms that come together to disrupt how your body or brain functions. while disease is a type of sickness that doctors can diagnose using medical testing. Diseases have an identifiable cause, such as infection, inflammation, or environmental factors. but thank you for spreading awareness 😁😁😁

Your problem guys is that you're too attached and affected by those fictional characters and main leads that are so sweet and always lovey dovey with the female lead and that makes u think that "la vie en rose" ,those are only "fictional" reality is different, THIS is reality, this is the kind of shows u need to watch and try to learn cuz this is how real life is.

There is a reason people feel a connection with shows that show this stuff...because it happens to them in real life. And maybe you yell and shit when you get annoyed. Most of us, what I call adults, learn to regulate that and try and express our emotions in a healthy manner. We can recognize when someone is having issues and try to help. For me, I personally look at it like “if I feel awful and useless what more the person I love?” It’s not fair that the husband took out that pain in her who’s already going through more than he can comprehend. The worst part is the fact he did it in front of their kids but guilted her for not doing anything about her depression when he knows nothing abt it. Why isn’t HE doing anything about it? Why is he giving her such harsh treatment instead of being gentle and treating her with kindness? That’s not a loved one. Because if you truly love someone you wouldn’t treat them that way at their worst just because you don’t feel like you can do anything about it.

If I'm stable enough to handle my emotions and keep my head up the water, even if i don't help (which one totally should) i shouldn't at least not make it worse. It's like telling a person with a broken leg, you used to swim why don't you just get yourself together and do it now! And he has work and rest hours, when does she get that. If earning alone made a person father and a husband, anyone can be that. I understand the pain you must be going through seeing your loved one going through that! But what HE did ! Simply showed he's self centred, i mean she's not a baby making machine who has to pull herself together to take care of the baby right? I agree, but I lean more toward the husband’s side. I have OCD and Persistent Depressive Disorder. I am recovered from an eating disorder. Mental illnesses are 100% treatable but it’s on you to get help. The husband is upset cause she’s not getting help. Mental illness isn’t an excuse to wallow in self-pity and refuse to get help. That’s your own fault. There is help out there, but if she refused to seek it, then she’s complicit with her mental health issues and that’s annoying. So, while having depression isn’t her fault, remaining ill is her choice & it’s unfair to herself and causes issues for her family (like not picking the kid up from school). BTW - this is a situation were she refuses to get help, not a situation where she can’t. Different things. Not being able to access care is a totally different story, but she can, so that discussion is irrelevant here.

People who don’t have depression will never understand how hard it is to be in it and how hard it is to get out. Specially when you have people who only make you feel worse about it and don’t know how to properly be supportive and helpful cuz they can’t put themselves in your shoes. Too many people think it’s a switch you can turn on and off.

I had severe depression along with some other mental disorders a few years ago (I mean I still do, but no where near as bad) and honestly I barely remember those years. The days all blurred together and I can’t even tell you what year I did what because of it. I love how accurately this drama portrays depression. Even the part shown here that shows her looking kind of pleased with herself that she showered, just to realize that it took her all day. People don’t realize that’s what it’s actually like.

My bestie since we were in 2nd grade have depression. I didn't even know because we live in different cities after college. It took her months before she confess of the things shes going through. I cant believe that all those things happened to her and she kept it to herself because she only has her grandma as a relative and she didn't want to worry her. It reach a point where she wanted it all to just end and realizing her thought process she run to me cause she's worried that she would eventually succumb to it. So what I did was told her of all the crap happening to me too. So that she would not feel isolated and even if hers was worst than mine I'm glad that she could open up to me because she knew I could somewhat relate. We even joke that other people go to therapist but we end up talking and laughing about our traumas. She promised me that she would talk to me everytime she feels down. At first she was hesitant cause she didn't want to burden me with her problems and negativity but I told her we could make it an exchange. You be my diary and I'll be yours kind of thing. We send each other chats everyday now talking about random things and worries as well as happy and joyous topics. What I want to say having someone there to listen to you goes a long way so be kind to everybody. You dont know their life story or what they're going through.

For all my words of affirmation and glady taking on hard tasks for him i am just never appreciated due to my looks or how loud i can be due to bad hearing from getting physically abused by my brother and my mother with an absent father. I told him im probably gonna go through this hard because i was just exploding in emotion and thoughts i never said, although they are true in hopes to not ruin other peoples day cuz no i shouldnt talk about everything that hurts my feelings. I told him to leave whenever and have a good time with ur friends or a casino anything its okay that i wont be hurt if u dont care enough to let me know that its okay that it wasnt my fault that i dont have be worried about getting another job or the money because i literally couldnt move or stop crying or stop panicing and couldn't sleep or eat for over a week. He told me to go kill myself on day 2 of crying. His excuse is alcohol intoxication and that he doesnt remember. Then he kicked me out the next day when i live there too. I paid rent and the down payment. Started Saturday late night and our relationship ended on the fourth day, four years just down the drain. If i am ur baby mama then maybe u want to wort it out and help me cope and get healthy if you ever loved me. Because youd never let anyone do that to your mother, the mental shock a child goes through coping with the fathers decision will definitely teach them how a family is supposed to react when you're the one eventually with a depression 🎉well raised kids hope u r proud of yourself for that one

@@clairehan0725 okay your boyfriend or hopefully exboyfriend is not like the one in the movie .... You should focus on yourself, go to Therapy and work on your Problems. You did nothing wrong amd did not dersve this treatment. Try to never look back to this relationship and seek something you deserve. And you only deserve the best

Depression is like a bottomless pit hole. The moment you fell in there, it’s like a lifetime run and jump trying to have a glimpse of light and taste of fresh air. Getting tired without doing anything, feeling afraid with no reason at all, oblivious to time and surroundings and all you have in you is the feeling of unlabeled emptiness and tiredness.
