Successful mall? If you grew up in the 80s and 90s and could remember how packed malls used to be you might think differently.

Great to see a mall full of people. People who are actually buying stuff. Additionally few if any vacant stores. A mall with solid anchors too. The malll itself is quite well designed. A success story despite the pandemic.

I used to live 5 minutes away from Deptford Mall and would go there all the time with the missus. Haven't been there since 2017 though, so glad to see it's still kicking. Figured it would be, since it's widely accepted as the best middle class mall in NJ. Nothing spectacular, but nonetheless has everything you'd want. Lots of families, a huge food court, etc. Like I said, never was the fanciest, but it was always the best. Just wish they hadn't closed the arcade in there around 2014. Guess now that they opened one up, I have to take a day trip there!!!!

A lot has changed at the deptford mall. I use to work at the Deptford mall and as a kid my aunt took us there.

There's also a Krispy Kreme and Crunch Fitness Center coming to the mall property, so the mall was able to redevelop pretty well thanks to Sears closing.

Looks like it matches all the points on the healthy-mall checklist: reasonable vacancy level; decent foot traffic, mostly national retailers rather than sketchy local ones; quick reuse of vacant anchor (Sears) space; active foot court; kiosks in active use rather than just static displays; what appears to be good maintenance.

Trust me y’all I’m still a couple minutes from this joint and this mall ain’t goin nowhere. Especially during the summer. The whole mall is full of people.

I used to go to this mall all the time back in the '90s; anyone remember the deadly shooting back in August of 1996? I believe someone was trying to rob a bank that used to be in the mall and got into a shootout.
