Der Anfang von Ende der DDR und der letzte Jahrestagfeier der DDR und das Ende der 77-Jährige Erich Honecker (* 25. August 1912 in Neunkirchen; † 29. Mai 1994 in Santiago de Chile). Zum 40. Jahrestag der DDR am 07. Oktober 1989 hat der mächtigste Mann der DDR ausgedient.
Als alles vorüber ist, an jenem 17. Oktober 1989, geht der eben noch mächtigste Mann im Land hinüber in sein Zimmer und ruft seine Frau an. "Es ist passiert", sagt Erich Honecker, "ich bin zurückgetreten".

At summer of 1989 we worked in East-Berlin, on a summer student practising. This was the second year that the hungarians didn't have to ask visa on our embassy to visit in West-Berlin. It was said we had not to speak to german workmates about vour visits in W.-Berlin. But our worker leader said that he hardly wait October, when he goes in retirement. The east germans can only visit western relatives when they are pensioners. God bless old Geri!

При этом ФРГшные марки работали бы на экономику ГДР в виде переводов родственникам. И да, родственный связи бы не терялись.

A funny little anecdote: Present at the parade was also the party leader of the DKP, the Danish Communist Party, Ole Sohn (he is seen standing in the second row, number three to the left of Egon Krenz). A few years after the fall of the Berlin wall, he switched to the Socialist People's Party (SF). In 2011, while a member of SF, he became minister for trade and industry and was also operating his own book publishing company. Who would have thought that someone like him, a long time communist, would later become an advocate for the lowering of wages and taxes, to ensure the wellbeing of the capitalist business community and the securing of jobs.... I guess people can change their mind.

Millions of people leave the country because of all the shortages and poverty caused by Maduro's economic policies, which creates a lot of instability in the region (mostly with Colombia and Brazil). All this instability will probably lead to the collapse of Maduro's government and its attempt to introduce socialism in the country. Thus, the USSR decided to build the wall to prevent such instability to destroy its power in the region.

@Quentin_Plays First, American sanctions were imposed on Venezuela years after Venezuelans started leaving the country because of all the shortages of basic goods. Second, American sanctions are on government members and on oil, not on food, medical drugs and other basic goods, which means that the shortages aren't related to American sanctions. Everything started when Venezuela's government decided to nationalize all big industries (oil, mining, coffee producers, etc.) and the central bank, to impose price ceilings on all "basic goods" and to borrow huge amounts of money (and all this actually started with Hugo Chavez, far before any American sanction). At the beginning, everything was doing good, until the price ceilings started causing shortages. Then, problems continued when all state companies gone bankrupt, followed by the huge debt that had to be reimbursed. Then, we can continue with the poor economic management of Maduro, starting with the fact that he used his power over the central bank to favorise a short term monetary policy… I can explain all this in more details if you want…
