I wasn't a Jackson fan when I was a kid but now I look back I'm so glad my mum took us to see Moonwalker at the cinema and experience this (and the other parts of the film such as Badder, Leave Me Alone, Come Together and such) on the big screen. And I consider this to be one of, if not the best music videos ever made. Song, choreography, cinematography, concept everything is fantastic and top-tier.

The Anti-Gravity lean was accomplished with pegs in the stage and holes in the soles of his shoes. The pegs miraculously kept him on his feet while he leaned forward. I can only imagine how much strain that would put on their achilles tendons, even with that cheat, but this video is so iconic.

MJ had a patent for the device that allowed him to do the forward lean. So he came up with idea himself, but he still had to have incredible core strength. He was a genius in so many ways.

@@DereckReacts oh yeah i believe it was wires for this video but he was so intent on being able to perform the lean live on stage without any breaks that he came up with the shoes with the holes in the heels that attach to posts that rise up from the stage to lock the shoes in place but yeah as they say above, you still need ridiculously high core strength to be able to lean forward and then lean back up again perfectly straight.

I used to be a dancer, I know how the lean worked. There's a V cut into his heel, the shoes are actually calf length boots, and the V cut connects to a peg in the floor that helps hold you up.

The lean is done by sliding specially prepared shoes onto little pegs nailed in the floor that hold the heels down. You can then slide them off the pegs and continue dancing. If you watch slowly after the lean the shoes are carefully taken off the pegs.
