Yes, our German national 80s pop treasure! But she was also very successful in France (due to the fact that she was born near to the border of France). The producer and composer was her ex-husband Michael Cretu from Romania. The background vocalist is Hubert Kah (not the one in the video!) who also had a huge success in the early 80s in the New German Wave (Neue Deutsche Welle) era. After that era he sang in English, I recommend "Limousine" and "Military drums". Sandra had hits until the early 90s, my favourites are "Heaven can wait" (I´m sure you will love the bass in this...), "Around my heart", "Secret land", "Little girl" and "We´ll be together". But her biggest hit was of course her first one: "Maria Magdalena"... I had the luck to see her live twice as a kid...

Greetings from France Dereck ! Sandra was actually considered as the European Madonna throughout the 80's and early 90's. She was produced by her then husband Michael Cretu who gained international fame as a composer by creating the project Enigma, back in 1990, with the the major first hit "Sadeness part 1" which topped the charts everywhere, so as "Return to Innocence" in 1993, "Beyond the Invisible" in 1996, "Gravity of Love" in 2000...The debut album "MCMXC a.d" is still the album to date that stayed more than 2 years in the US billboard. You should react to this wonderful and unique mixture of electronic, religious and ethnic samples, lot of sensuality also but with strong beats most of the time. Michael Cretu sold like 70 million albums with Enigma and 20 with Sandra plus 10 million with various projects in Germany where he studied music. Enigma is so unique you can find fans from all over the world on their KZbin channel. Enjoy !!

Just to give you some information on the music video, because you wanted to know how things went behind the scenes: The video was shot in an old Coca Cola factory in November/December 1985. As said by Sandra herself, it was snowing outside whilst on the set the crew worked with dry ice to make it look like the clip was set in a sauna/bathhouse. I hope this clears thing up for you. ;) Great video, by the way.

Sandra was huge here in Germany from around 1985 til about 1993. She started out doing this power pop. Later in the 80s moving into a more sensual grown up pop sound before she got experimental in 1990 with her biggest album Paintings In Yellow moving into ambient, lounge and a more alternative pop sound. 1992 she released a more electronic album called Close To Seven which went top 10 as well. She continued to release music, her last German top 10 album was in 2002. There are so many songs, videos, hits that are worth checking out. This was really just when she was starting out, her second single. it's great but she got way more sophisticated stuff along the way. sandra was very successful in germany. between 1985 and 1992 she had 4 top 5 hits, 8 top ten hits and 5 top 20 hits in germany. with the song maria magdalena wR in 1985 she was number 1 in 26 countries. from 1990 she took over the whispering voice at enigma a music project by her husband at the time michael cretu. sandra tried to be successful in the usa at the time. she gave concerts in new york, but unfortunately the success in usa did not materialize. nice that you like the title.

You need to keep reacting to songs with heavy emphasis on synths. I know you reacted to Dead or Alive “You Spin Me Round”, but, they have another song which is just as epic and I personally think is better called “Lover Come Back To Me” which after seeing you react to this video, I think you’d enjoy hearing and seeing the video too. There used to be blue screen before the green screen. They definitely had it back in the 1980s, maybe even 1970s. The technology wasn't as refined as it is now, so often you could see some artefacts on the edge where the person is.

Everybody was in love with Sandra in Europe during the 80s (super huge here in France). She's done some good records in the 90s too. After that it's not as good, but I'll always love her. (She never was a real stage performer though, she pretty much always "lip sync" her songs... but, well, like SO many back then).

In 1986 to 87, I was an exchange student in Germany. I was introduced to Sandra and fell in love. Two of my favorite songs by Sandra are, Loreen and Hey Little Girl. I have her greatest hits and still jam to it today!

YES! German music! If you'd like to react to more german music I would say, that "Satellite" by Lena (Eurovision Song Contest, 2010), "Rivers Of Babylon" by Boney M. (1978) and "Atemlos durch die Nacht" (=Breathless through the night) by Helene Fischer (2013/14) are good choices!
