He's been through a lot of shit and he doesn't deserve it, especially, he doesn't deserve the way people treat him. It physically hurts me to watch Teen Wolf characters being such great assholes to him when all he's done is look after the pack. Seriously COULD YOU JUST NOT? When has the guy ever thought of himself in the past 3 seasons? For fuck's sake ..
I really hate that all the good characters are the ones who suffers most, but I think he is done with his suffering. Just give him a bit of happiness already, will you Jeff? He could use it.

This guy was emotionally blackmailed, manipulated into killing his first love, orphaned, with his home burnt down, shot, left for dead, tortured beyond human endurance, staked with everything from steel rods to bone knives, hunted down like a rabid dog, completely misjudged and misunderstood by stupid teenagers he was trying desperately to save...with no-one ever showing him any compassion (except for a split second Stiles when he placed a hand on his shoulder when Boyd died) or cut him any slack for of course "He is Derek after all". It is as if they don't consider him human at all...like he is some sort of unfeeling werewolf machine. This man cannot simper and say the right things a hero is supposed to say. He isn't all warm and fuzzy like a cuddly teddy bear. He doesn't know how to be close to somebody without hurting them physically (with boys, for he never hurts a woman until attacked by one, he is in fact quite chivalrous, remember offering frightened Jennifer a hand even when he could barely stand). And he is impossibly courageous for what he endures. In Season 4, even when he loses all his power he goes headlong into the danger (when he cannot even handle a gun!) knowing full well it is going to get him killed for he is loyal to the fault and underneath his tough exterior is a gentle and caring soul. If he is not the true hero I don't know who is!

Thanks. I appreciate other people also feel the same about DH. He is truly the unsung hero of the series and TH has portrayed him so perfectly! He cares for everybody including the super-jerk Jackson or Allison (he saves Allison's life a number of times from Scott even when she was the daughter of his enemy no. 1 and he could have easily kidnapped her/bullied her in retaliation of how the Argents (both Chris and Kate) treated him, but he ends up saving her instead for he is GOOD man. He cares for his pack like they are his family...he cries over Erica and Boyd and Scott, he will take a bullet happily for Scott any day! But does anybody actually acknowledge how pivotal he is to Scott's life and how Scott couldn't have become the true werewolf if not for him (he would have killed one of his friends/hunted down by the Argennts/killed by Allison's mom and should I go on)! Scott tries to save Derek out of a sense of duty towards pack, Derek tries to save him because when he says "we are brothers now" he really means it.

He is such an endearing mixture of brute strength and raw vulnerability, terrifying bouts of rage and perplexing gentleness, chivalry and hero complex and a mean & cunning streak, acute sense self-preservation with absolute self sacrificing nature...he is a picture of contrast, but beyond it all - under the magnificent body - beats an even more magnificent heart! How can one not fall in love...

When Issac says "Boyd and Erica are dead. Cora's dying, and you're doing nothing" I want to scream. Derek has thrown his life down for everyone more times than I can count. He tries to help Scott, even after Scott and Stiles throw him under the bus for murdering all those people in season 1. He takes responsibility for his actions, and tries to make things right. He's been kicked and thrown to the ground, but he always keeps fighting. When he has no werewolf abilities, he still goes to Mexico to rescue Scott, and it nearly kills him. When Derek was standing between Cora and Boyd, as a man and not as an alpha, I thought he was going to become a true alpha, because that's what they're supposed to be. Somebody willing to stand in front of everybody else and say "Take me instead."

Yeah, I was mad at Isaac in that moment, too. Though I do want to say, it was Scott who threw Derek under the bus in season one, not Stiles. After Scott said it, Stiles had no real choice but to play along, but he got mad at Scott for saying that even though at the time, he thought Derek was dead, and he'd never really even liked Derek because he was scared of him back then. And then he hid Derek in his house while Derek was a fugitive. Derek really is one of the most self-sacrificing, selfless characters on the show, though, and it's really sad how almost everyone constantly kicked him while he was down to the point that Derek was used to it.

This is incredible. Derek is the emotional punching bag for the writers. It's like whenever the poor guy's life is a little less terrible than usual, they tear it all down and screw him over again. And I hate how so many other characters looked at him as the bad guy, the failure when everything he has done has been for everyone else but him. I think he's probably one of the most genuinely good characters in the show but he's never shown as a hero. They better give him some solid happiness this season but it's unlikely cuz you know, it's not Teen Wolf if Derek Hale's life doesn't completely suck. Damn, this video's made me depressed.

i feel so bad for him. there was no one there for him when he needed them. he never had a good life either, especially after when his whole house was burned down - and the majority of his family died - and then his sister died, and yet, they still blame him for everything. if someone could understand him - or be there for him, i think he would've been much happier - but no one was there for him - even if he needed them.
