Brandon Steiner of www.SteinerSpor... and New York Yankees shortstop and future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter sit down to talk about losing.
There are many things to know about Derek Jeter, however the most important fact about Derek Jeter is that he hates losing; he tries to win at everything he does, and doesn't believe it's possible to "weight" certain losses versus each other.
Steiner Sports Memorabilia is proud to have a strong working relationship with Derek Jeter. In addition to providing sports collectors with pro sports memorabilia and baseball memorabilia, our strong relationships with our athletes create the opportunity to give our fans interviews and experiences like this. Autograph signings with players like Derek Jeter are truly awesome experiences for both Steiner Sports Memorabilia and our athletes, in which we get to provide some awesome autographs and sport memorabilia that can be used as sports gifts for almost anybody. From Derek Jeter signed baseballs, to baseball display cases, we have everything a sports collector would want.

The really cool thing is. He actually played the way he talks. He played HARD AND TO WIN. When I saw him dive face first into the stands... that was crazy.

Love how people laugh at what Jeter is saying even though he is TOTALLY serious.

I mean it is true. Even as fans. Like what was worse 2001,2003,or 2004? They didn’t win. All of them hurt and still hurt.

@@bobbyjohnson9409 the better example of this is 01/03 vs 07, like they mentioned. 04 was its own beast, making infamous history against their bitter rival

Juxtapose this mentality with all the sound bites from the current 2023 Yankees. After every loss all we heard was “saw some good things” or “looking better today.” And people wonder why they’ve lost their way.

I totally agree with Jeter because I have always felt the same way.Losing a Championship is WORSE than losing earlier in the playoffs because you are right there and when you come up short it feels 100 times worse than when you just get bounced out sooner. If you didn't win the Championship you LOST get it?

Losers won’t understand his mentality. They will say he is arrogant and full of pride when in reality he is a winner. The point of playing a game is to win. Plain and simple.

I'm late to the party but as a fan, Jeter is gonna hate what I'm gonna say: I'm used to seeing the Yankees lose the ALDS or the ALCS. I've seen them miss the play offs more times than I ever thought was possible. But I have yet to see them lose a World Series (I wasn't following baseball in 2001 and 2003). I'd rather see them lose early and expect it than to see them get a big chance and blow it. I know Jeter probably won't agree but hey.

JHAM3232 It shouldn't matter what team he plays for, he has the right attitude. Every ballplayer in MLB should have the same goal, which is to win. Now-a-days, most ballplayers care about being the best player in the world and making as much money as they can whether or not their team sucks or not.

I think he views the entire season as a single game. Every game is just an inning in the marathon. Win the WS, you won that years game. Win or lose, come back the next year and do it again.

Yeah, they lost in the ALCS. Meaning they were one of the last two teams standing in the league. Meaning they won way more than they lost. My point is he has never played on a a consistantly bad team. He should try playing on the Pirates or Royals if he really wanted to feel losing.

I get and understand your argument, and to a degree, you're right in terms of emotionally understanding complete consistent failure. But you've misunderstood his point in this video if this is your response. He simply is expressing what is technically the truth. If you lose 100 games one season, its no different than losing in the WS. You lost. You play to win the world series. Thats why these players are hired and paid millions. If you're not the last team standing you might as well be the pirates or Royals.

Yes part of it is that he was spoiled at a young age and the Yankees went on a legendary run and it started as his first year as a starter

I want you all to know that none of the athletes on the cards love any of you, but Jesus does love you and he is one prayer away.Jesus is more famous than all of them, and is the same yesterday, today, and forever. =) the definition of FAITH-the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.(From the Holy Bible) Only Jesus can fill that void inside of you...material things, pleasure, and money will NOT fill that void inside of you but Jesus can ..seriously =)

Jeter is kind of a tool. He's never really experienced losing. The Yankees are always a competetive team, not because of him, but the supposrting cast of highly paid free agents. It's harder to lose than to win with a $200 mil. payroll.

Dumbass comment. Since the 90's the Yankees have been a product of homegrown players with free agents. Just like every baseball team that actually tries to win games Apologizing for billionaire team owners that are more concerned about their bottom line than winning isn't a moral high ground. Your owner is just a cheap ass loser.
