See what his dad said "I'm not going to let him win, you have to work hard at things". That's what young kids are missing today. Success is through hard work and accepting defeat when it comes. No participation trophies. You have to work to be successful

Jeter wasn't just a great Yankee, but a role model for many people. I watched him as a young kid and he retired when I was in my 20s. The way he didn't showboat or run his mouth, or ever really say anything controversial were the things that many kids emulated as they got older. I have no problem with people who know their talent and boast, but when you win 5 rings and are responsible for some of the most memorable Yankee moments, and you do it the right way without coming off arrogant, it really resonates with people. I think after his Mr. November home run, he said "if we don't win tomorrow then tonight didn't matter" just seconds after cross home plate. Just prefect.

I still cannot believe that he never won an MVP award. He was definitely the MVP of the Yankees for 20 years.
@TheTigersfan204 жыл бұрын
I think that’s fitting that Jeter, always a “team” player, never won an MVP. Although, one could really make a case for his 2006 season being MVP worthy

@wm_96404 жыл бұрын
He got screwed out of an MVP in 2006. He probably could’ve won it in 09 as well. But some of his best seasons were also some of Pujols’, Ichiro’s, and Cabrera’s best seasons. Tough competition in those days.

I'm no yanks fan. But I am a Jeter fan. I remember his rookie start until his retirement. He was a class act. For the big stage he always kept his head level and grounded to his game. You could tell he.didnt have the big ego some players seem to have being in that position. His stance and batting style was incredibly effective at always making contact and got him lots of hits

One thing I have in common with Derek Jeter I have family in New Jersey. My parents were born and raised in New Jersey. My parents moved to Long Island in 1989. I was born four years later after they moved to Long Island. I grew up going to new jersey as a kid to see my grandparents. New Jersey was like a second home to me. My grandfather was a huge Yankee fan he use to tell me stories about Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Jackson, and Mattingly.

My all time favorite Yankee He’s the reason I love baseball But he’s not even the best Yankee of all time. One of the best. But definitely not the best. He’s not even close to being the best shortstop let alone the best baseball player. Guys like Ozzie Smith Omar Vizquel and Cal Ripken were 10x better than he was
