That attempt was 4.6x his bodyweight assuming he weighs exactly 59kg - meaning it could have been even greater than that - & it seems like the only reason he didn't complete it was his grip. Being so young, that's absolutely amazing. Keep your eyes on him; he's going to be winning his class soon once he gets his bench up.

That deadlift confuses me. I feel as if the deadlift (conventional and traditional sumo) involves the back since regular set-up is an angled back. His deadlift utilizes the back to a very minimal degree and almost seems as if its a half ROM wide stance squat. Can someone explain this?

fellas real quick question. im 59kg as well and i bench 50kg 4set*10rms. am i bad lifter based on my weights?
@badman469
@badman469 5 жыл бұрын
ALDS LIFE For example im 18 now i weight 65 kilos, yes just that little, my normal bench press is about 65-70 my max was 83 about 1 month and a half ago, or longer. Deadlift weight is 120kg, i cant go higher because i have a home gym and dont have more weights. Biceps dumbell curls is normal 16-18kg how i feel. So to answer your question, everyone is his own best lifter dont look at people and think "omg he makes bench press twice as much as me and is the same age" do your thing and maybe one his max weight is 150 and go to 200 because of Motivation. Dont forget that everyone has another DNA structure so that plays a role too.

Why do they always make a huge arch on the bench presses? Is that really the correct form?
@JohnmillerPowerlifting
@JohnmillerPowerlifting 5 жыл бұрын
under the rules that are used yes this is correct form as you are able to reduce the distance the bar has to travel and by doing this you can put more weight on the bar. however this is really only used at this level in the sport. having such a large arch is not advised unless you and at the world class level. up to this level you need to develop your body and gain in strength, without this developed strength you will only fail if you were to try this. so when you see all the people saying if I arched like this I would lift xxx amount of weight, they can't. If they were to try this I can almost say for certain that the bar would drop like a stone to the chest and go nowhere.

@JohnmillerPowerlifting
@JohnmillerPowerlifting 5 жыл бұрын
It's only unfair if the the option is not open to all but as it is and they decided not to that up to them. But the basic rules are the bar must be lifted in one motion and your knees and shoulders must be locked and back. There is not a rule for distance your feet can be apart.

I didn't understand the title!!!!?!!? 527 kg deadlift???
@JohnmillerPowerlifting
@JohnmillerPowerlifting 5 жыл бұрын
The sport of powering is based around a total not a single lift, unless it's is a single lift comp but that would be stated. So the number in the title is this athletes end ruselt. Just the same at the end score at a football game. No-one cares about what happened in the first half only the end result

i can see more and more powerlifters using very good leverages to perform sumo deadlift (you can see how he's not even using much of a spine erectors, he's basicly upright during whole range of motion). which in my eyes is very unfair with lifters who are not physically made to deadlift sumo. everyone pulls sumo or everyone pulls conventional, the difference between the two is getting too big. i'd say same thing with arched bench press.

Yeah I hate sumo, but the rules allow it so it’s not the lifters fault that it’s allowed

Very good bc you work with a lot of muscles, but diet do the most... also if you diet and powerlift do not expect to lift a lot or to become very muscular. You will be healthy loose weight and have fun.
