Here because of Tim Challies' recent FB post on the 5 worst Christian books. Wow. Awesome job. And very humbling indeed. How often do I chase after worldly vices rather than His wisdom, love, and grace. Wow.

Yep. Me too. And I really like this song. And yes, very humbling. Could have described me better.

Here for the same reason. The Holy Spirit told me when the Prayer of Jabez book first came out that it was not of God. Later I prayed similarly, and God answered and expanded my borders. But he was just being kind to this whore. Like he always has been.

People get offended by language, but it took such powerful words to convey such a powerful image. I've been that person and God is changing me, showing me the truth, more and more each day! Thank God for grace and mercy!!!

Profound. Humbling. Makes me realize how undeserving I am of God's forgiving love and grace.

I hate the part of my heart that is described by the lyrics of this song. I love the One who taught me to hate it and made to conquer it.

[Verse 1] If you could love me as a wife And for my wedding gift, your life Should that be all I'll ever need Or is there more I'm looking for And should I read between the lines And look for blessings in disguise To make me handsome, rich, and wise Is that really what you want [Chorus] I am a whore I do confess I put you on just like a wedding dress And I run down the aisle Run down the aisle I'm a prodigal with no way home I put you on just like a ring of gold And I run down the aisle to you [Verse 2] So could you love this bastard child Though I don't trust you to provide With one hand in a pot of gold And with the other in your side I am so easily satisfied By the call of lovers less wild That I would take a little cash Over your very flesh and blood [Bridge] Because money cannot buy A husband's jealous eye When you have knowingly deceived his wife

I think they were both released the same year (2003). That'd be pretty tough to do.

Likely they came out about the same time. DW was performing it in 2002 and earlier. I dont know about when damien rice came out with his song but it was put out in 2003 for radios.. He was definitely not ripping off the song though. This is actually a newer way of singing wedding dress and doesnt play or sound like the original which sounds even less like damien rice.

You don't understand, bro. Christ wanted to die. Isaiah says He was led like a lamb to the slaughter to die for those the Father had given Him. If He had not died, there would be no payment for sin.

You're pretty quick to judge him, about where his heart was before and how his story will end. Yes right now his face is turned. Doesn't mean he won't be led back.

People, even whole Christian sects, who read the bible think they know the mind & desires of God. All men observe, not the world outside, but themselves - since what they see is at best only their conception of what they see; Lionel Mordecai Trilling (change "see" to read in sentence above, cause to read you must see)
