dude nice!! I’m 42 and I wanna learn to ride 🤣😂… I always wanted to learn as a kid tho. But I live in New York State (unfortunately) not many places to ride that are inside of 2/hrs. Also, I’m too big at 6’3 200/lbs. I feel like the only bike I could reasonably get on that wouldn’t make me feel like I stole some poor kid’s dirt bike is a Yamaha 250. I can drive manual in a car, I learned in 15min by having my dad get my brand new 2002 Eclipse GT (fast and furious just came out lol) off the dealer lot and we switched spots and once he showed me how to get 1st gear I instantly picked it up… no lie, I dropped him off and went out that night with my friends. So I understand using the clutch and shifting by feeling but I’ve just never been on a bike. Half of riding one is learning body positioning on the bike. I wouldn’t start on anything bigger than a 250 and I think Yamaha make’s the biggest bike and probably the best bike for my frame. Great video man… you’re so smooth! How long you been riding?

Dude you’re looking really good! A really important tip for you is to not let off at the lip. Try to keep a steady throttle up the whole face. Love the vids and keep up the good work🤘🏼
@DerekHallman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Jayce! But nah man if I held the throttle all the way off the lip at the speeds I'm going I would land into the next jump face lol. Being consistent with the throttle is key - 0 throttle, full throttle, half throttle, whatever - as long as its consistent off the face and not blipping. I let off the gas in the straight away before the jump because I'm going too fast, then soak up the jump. Perfect example is at 4:05 - if I stayed on the throttle for those jumps, especially the last one in the rhythm, I'd probably land so far out to flat I'd break my ankles.
@jaycecunningham37562 жыл бұрын
@@DerekHallman Ahh makes sense. I think what i was thinking of was blipping at the face now that you say that. I had the wrong thing in mind lol
@DerekHallman2 жыл бұрын
@@jaycecunningham3756 Yep and a perfect example of that, what NOT to do - blip the throttle on the face - I did on my warm up lap at 1:01 lol quite sketchy. You can also see how far I overshot the landing.

Hey im getting into dirt bike riding and I was wondering what would be best for a beginner, like engine size and 2 or 4 stroke?
@rickk.v2 жыл бұрын
Complete beginner and never ripped a dirtbike? 125 2stroke would be great to practice and get some seattime on. I you have driven one, guess you could go for a 150-200 2 stroke or a 250 4 stroke, it's what you prefer. 2 stroke does need more maintenance, but be hell a lot more fun imo

@@TomasTots Ok! Cause I see a lot of people enjoying the KYB on the Yamaha and the better low end torque. What are some of your pros/cons for both? How bout ergonomics and rider fitment/comfort

@@connorrice949 True, but I forgot to add that the bikes I rode were the versions produced here in Brazil (CRF250F and TTR250F), so they are probably different than the US versions.
