Amazing explanation ! I was clueless about genetic algorithms. I came straight to your channel, watched this video, didn't regret even for a second. Thanks a lot ! Please make more videos on these topics.

This is a very good lecture that gives me a clue about GA. If possible it could be good to add some lecture videos on an application of GA in Water Resources Engineering like Reservoir Operation & Establishing optimal Rule Curve and also on optimization of Lake water resources for multiple objectives like agriculture and hydro-power especially when these development objectives are computing to the same reservoir resources. Please give examples on the coding practices of such problems.

I'm wondering if you can solve the flowshop scheduling problem with GA ?
@tonycatman7 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the job scheduling problem, then I can tell you that we used a GA to find a good solution. The problem itself is NP-Hard, so we couldn't work out how good our schedules are compared to the mathematical optimum. We almost certainly end up at a local, non-global optimum, for each schedule, but my guess is that it is consistently better than a human would come up with. We waded through a number of papers before striking on a solution of our own. We didn't follow a published solution, but were reassured that most people seem to think that a GA gives the right approach.

I traced these examples to a book that was written 21 years ago, everybody repeats the same examples all over the internet... dont even bother changing the pics :-(
