Interesting take on binding the strong man. It's not as simple as saying I bind you. We have to repent of whatever God shows us. So repentance toward God is what binds the strongman. Submit to God resist the devil and he will flee. This is a different view of these verses I'll have to chew on it quite a while to understand.

You’re right but if you listen to his personal example he gave, he repented first before binding. In the beginning he was just showing us scripturally how to bind the strongman directly from Jesus words and it was more than saying I bind you but rather a step in the process and of course the Bible is connected so based on Christ teachings, we know repentance is first and a must.

I have a strong man over my business. I have been trying to figure it out for years. A part of me just wants a humble existence, though; not to be world renowned or considered an expert. Because I'm really a fool. But, I do need some of my work to prosper a little bit. I don't know who the strong man is, though. Maybe it is self righteousness? Who knows? Always trying to do the right thing, and going way beyond what I need to? Worry, doubt, fear of losing my righteousness (which should be of the LORD). Mental illness. I realized just yesterday, the LORD is sovereign over everything, and I have no hope unless He protects me. That's why we can't win by our own righteousness or self control. We need the LORD for all things, to guide us, teach us, and protect us with His power of grace. I can say that, but living it is a whole other thing. I'm not lazy. I spend about 6 hours a day learning what I can, and strengthening my mind for evangelism and spreading the gospel truth. That's about all I'm capable of doing.

Seems so to me, because if we're not doing the right thing, we are doing the wrong thing. There is only one right way, but there are a myriad of wrong ways. Jesus is the right way; the only way to God and eternal life, but there are innumerable wrong ways as He taught in the sermon on the mount. "Strive to enter (eternity) by the narrow gate, for broad is the way and wide is the gate that leads to destruction, and many there are that go that way, but strait (literally difficult) and narrow is the gate that leads to eternal life, and few there be who find it." Now that has to do with eternal life, but here in the nasty now, as it concerns the tasks of daily living, I believe that we should always try to do what is right whether for ourselves or others. I don't see how this can be a form of self-righteousness if we are operating according to His word and giving Him the glory for our accomplishments. We may well get some credit, but to God be the glory. Hope this helps.

I've never heard any audible voice, bit He's certainly spoken to me in my spirit over the years. How are ministers led to preach on a certain verse or subject? Or how do people seek God about an important decision? Often it's just by a sense of peace in our spirit. But many times, God speaks. He says no, or wait, or don't take that job, don't date that person, or buy that car, right? We may not understand why, but we have a certainty it is God!
