Have lived in Neston very close to Royal Arthur all my life. I worked for a building firm who had the term contract to maintain the place when I left school. It makes me sad to see it like that. It really was kept so well up together in days gone by. I remember the fantastic open days as a kid as well!....makes me feel old looking at this....

My late father C.R.S. Bill Cook RN, did some final training there before going to Ascension Island as part of Naval Party 1984, to set up a monitoring station for GCHQ.

I did my leadership course there in 1969. Remember the obstacle course, and collecting rum.

My dad was stationed here as a chief petty officer in the late 80's. I have good memories of the base, sad to see it in a mess.

spent a week there around 79/80 with my local sea cadets remember the assuilt course which was hard think the place was a trainning base fo petty officers

You should go 150ft underground to the massive "city" scale buker there with 25 miles of tunnels. regards.

I spent 4-6 weeks here in 1969 on a leadership course after qualifying for Petty Officer.

@Bentley240 I agree, I can't stand the mindless graffiti that appears almost everywhere nowadays. But there is some really good art here that took time & patience to complete.

I went round the site today and we saw to guard dogs im 12 just wanted to see what it looked like but just on our way out we did meet 2 alsations I told my friend to run as she ran through the thorn bush I was stood on a wall by 2 barrels as the dogs was growling and barking luckly I managed to escape from them but we were just looking not there to brake or go inside

I served hear and looked after the armoury and parade ground back in 1986 - 87/88 fantastic place

Just as grim looking when I was called up in 1948 not the graffiti then but still a dismal place cold and unforgiving not the happiest of my places in my life nothing to do with the 'tuition' there Just a dump!!!
