I laughed watching this because these examples are are so clean to begin with compared to the reverb I deal with on my recordings. That, coupled with loud laptop fans makes for a processing nightmare. I am recording dialogue while gaming for YT so it doesn't have to be perfect, but it can't make people cringe and turn off my videos. Took me weeks of playing around with different combinations of settings to get an "acceptable" finished product. These types of plugins didn't come close to fixing the issues. Heavy NR, EQ, compression and gating while trying to maintain some quality is challenging. Fortunately, I've now built custom chains I can apply without much tinkering, but I still tinker here and there. It's part of the fun for me!

Hi @thatsrich944, I know the struggle. I find that no plugin will "repair" an audio problem better than fixing the problem in the room when recording. Thanks for watching!

Hey Lenny. After talking with you the other day I saw that Waves released this so I picked it up. I have RX9 DeReverb already and agree, for those less than optimally recorded tracks the Clarity vX DeReverb works great, probably better for me than RX9. I obviously haven't had a lot of time to test but this feels like the right tool for a lot of people who are doing recordings in conference rooms or using shotgun mics with video cameras.

Great stuff, Lenny. I use Clarity Vx for background noise, which works very well without leaving harsh artifacts. I am interested in how the Clarity Vx DeReverb can apply to reverb. My biggest complaint when getting audio to work with is room reverb. I may have to try it. I find the RX 10 de-verb does not always fill my needs, and cutting frequencies to eliminate reverb is not my favorite way to create excellent-sounding audio. Can't beat the price.

Hi Lenny. Awesome info. I've been looking recently particularly on de-reverb plugins - and found Goyo which does extremely good job at removing reverb and ambiance and is free for now. How do you find it comparing to waves plugin? Would be awesome to compare those as both are AI based

Goyo is extremely heavy for computer.

Can you do a video on the basics of Plug Ins and what programs to use them in? I am using OBS with a Zoom L8 and a Behringer Audio Processor. Can plug ins still be used with my set up?
@HeyLennyB Жыл бұрын
Hi Drew. Audio plugins are used in a DAW (or Digital Audio Work Station) like Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition and others. However, they can also work in OBS. I just noticed that Waves plugins are now compatible with the latest version of OBS (Windows Only). You may have noticed that OBS has some audio processors already available. You can still use plugins with your system. Feel free to send me your audio and I will send you an example of what the processed sound is like. Please fill out the form and follow the instructions to submit an audio example here www.lennyb.com/get-your-voice-processed-submission-form

Hi, great video, but I bought the plugin and I can't find Dialogue 3 (+NR) as neural network, I have just Singing, Dialogue 1 and Dialogue 2 without NR. I also tried to use it and it did'nt work so well for me, it corrupts voice quality very fast :(

Hi @Mitzrael79. Can you send me a sample of your raw audio singing track? I'll take a listen and see if there's a solution. Email me at lenny@lennyb.com.

Is this recommended for Dynamic Mics in non threated rooms? If so, where do you put it in the chain before Compressor & EQ ?
@HeyLennyB Жыл бұрын
It can be valuable for any mic or recording. However, no de-reverb plugin will sound better than actually removing the reverb from your recording space. The de-Reverb plugin only masks the problem. Proper room treatment (to minimize reflections) will offer you the best sound for any mic. Waves offers a free trial period. So, you can try it for free first before buying. Hope that helps!
