Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans: A Guide for Medical Students | Dr Omer Awan

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare and locally aggressive skin cancer that is typically characterized by a slow-growing, firm, and red-brown nodule. The diagnosis and management of DFSP require a multidisciplinary approach .
In this video, we'll discuss the CT imaging findings of DFSP, including the characteristic features such as a well-circumscribed mass with a lobulated contour, a low attenuation, and a characteristic "honeycomb" pattern. We'll also cover the differential diagnosis, including other benign and malignant soft tissue tumors, and the importance of obtaining a biopsy for definitive diagnosis.

I had a DFSP removed when I was 14 which was well into the muscle. Surgeon made quite a large excision and I now have quite the large shark bite looking scar/defect. I'm 46 now. No recurrence, thankfully.

Can I send you my case as mine is in the breast which is rare. It came out in the middle of chest at the age of 14. I was dismissed and misdiagnosed as a cyst. It never grew until later in age. It rapidly grew and moved into the breast area as an adult, had it removed. Now it has returned a second time after Covid medicine. I would be an excellent rare case if your interested in reviewing my scans?? I read research that it can extend into the muscles and the bone if not checked.
