Kitty already had the pneumonia that would eventually take her life. But...what a trooper! She carried on despite her illness and persevered.

@Chris Johnson- I totally agree with you. Kitty loved to perform. I was her friend from 1996-2007, and often visited her at her penthouse apartment on East 64th Street. She was so down to earth and sweet, not at all what you would expect from a Grand Dame. She treated me as she would one of her socialite friends, even though I was far from that. She had not one ounce of snobbery in her DNA. I think we got along so well because I made her laugh, and that is what Kitty loved more than anything else... to laugh. We would talk and talk and talk, and she loved playing Gin Rummy. True to her engaging eccentricity, she insisted that we play for money! LOL! I miss her to this day.

What a wonderful, talented and gracious lady... To the bitter end devoted to both her art and her late great husband. (My guess is that she was talking about Stephen Sondheim, who was still alive at the time, and who created a musical version of the Kaufman and Hart play "Merrily We Roll Along".). Thank you for uploading these shows. Is Christopher Cain the same person as Christopher James Cain, the film composer?
