Yep, it all depends on your headcannon. Personally I like to think she's a clumsy yet kind pony. Not the most clever pony by any means, but she tries hard to do the best job that she can. All that can be derived from the few minutes of screen time she got.

I watched this for the adorableness that Derpy is and then I watched the parts where those Pegasai were being mean to her and calling her idiot. This is how it went down. 1st time they called her idiot: "Hey, now!" 2nd time: "Dude, stop or I'm taking out your front row!" 3rd time: "No one calls my princess an idiot!!" *pulls out shotgun, loads, cocks, fires at them multiple times* Just cause she's visually disabled DOESN'T mean she's mentally disabled!! In the very first episode of MLP their was an animation error with her eyes. People saw it and called her Derpy.

Derpy's eyes were an animation mistake, but when people started to notice it they wanted to see more of Derpy. They put her in episodes with actual roles or lines. (Feeling Pinkie Keen and The Last Roundup) Then all the moms started to complain for basically no reason .-. But like danxpone said, it's her design, even though it was an animation bug xD

I love the fact that a lot of thought and dedication went into this, and I personally believe the style really matches that of MLP, which is not easy to achieve, but to be honest I don't really think Touhou songs are too "ponifiable", don't you agree? Many jokes are lost and some references and character traits don't translate well to MLP. Nevertheless, I appreciate and acknowledge your work and, being an animator myself, I do understand that putting these things together isn't precisely a walk in the park. Keep it up!

I love touhou but damn the fanbase are really touchy! Do they not understand that this is a parody, they're acting like the animator legit stole it and credited everything as their own.
