Suggestive and leading statements, you are completely correct. Police, mediums and psychologists alike all use similar psychological methods to attain certain results. Derren simply dresses it up and makes it look good on camera because he has mastered his craft.

I'm an English cycle-ogical illusionist if that makes any sense (cycle) I wanna tri a mind reading experiment with you (three) are you a student, do you work, or - (questions in threes) I'm gonna be asking you to do 3 things at the moment (three) you are going to be saying the word to yourself over and over again (wheels, round, cycle) try and do the whole thing without really thinking about it alright (tri) that's 3 different kind of cogs that are going round in your mind the same time (wheels, round, cycle, tri) you happy this is a three (free) choice of word yeah? (three) when you were 6 years old (limits options to time where kids could have ridden a bicycle)

I'm having trouble buying this....Mainly, I don't think it's possible to put a man to sleep like that with some blinking lights and sounds....Secondly, he needs a haircut....Thirdly, I don't think Derren Brown is going to commit a breaking and entering felony on video tape.... I'm going to go out on a limb and say the whole thing is scripted with actors. Everyone is an actor. They're just making a movie disguised as a documentary.

@EalesOnWheels3 жыл бұрын
From watching Derren for years and learning about how he picks people for large scale stunts like this, it seems that he uses people who are fans of his already. This already gives them an eagerness to take part in such an experiment. They see Derren's work and want to be part of it. The blinking lights and sounds are a red herring, what will be happening is mostly Derren putting the volunteer in a sleep state through process of suggestion. The lights and sounds however do help but only to make the subject feels like they're working. A good example of this being used elsewhere is in his special called "how to control a nation", he spends 4/5 minutes preparing people for a 'subliminal film' when in actuality, he is using hypnotic induction and suggestion; then by the time the 'subliminal film' is played a notable portion of viewers expected themselves to become stuck, the film was just the trigger. So things like these are VERY possible, but you would have to pick a very particular type of subject who would be HIGHLY suggestable. Hope that clears it up for you :)

@friedrichmeneer72555 жыл бұрын
Hypnosis does work. Simply, because it is not magic. it is a technique. When you have a high enough understanding of how the mind works you can manipulate in whichever way you see fit. There is a very precise science behind it and I would encourage you to do some research into it. it is really quite fascinating! Enjoy your day :D
@themook99835 жыл бұрын
@@friedrichmeneer7255 From the NHS: 'In the UK, hypnotherapists don't have to have any specific training by law. This means hypnotherapy can be offered by people with little training who aren't health professionals.' That doesn't sound like a 'precise science to me. Can you study hypnotherapy at university or medical college?

@themook99835 жыл бұрын
@Nathan T He studied law at university, nothing to do with his performance career. I was simply disagreeing with the notion that hypnotherapy is 'a precise science', because it isn't. If you want to see the limits of performance hypnosis, I'd recommend 'Reality is Plastic by Anthony Jacquin: it is free on Audible and Kindle Unlimited. Read up on the subject and then watch the DB clip and ask yourself, 'is that really possible?'.

@valkenburgert5 жыл бұрын
An insult is subjective, therefore cannot be universally defined. People might have different opinions about one and the same sentence. Some will claim it as hard truth, others a rather funny, others as a negative insult. That's basic logic and explains why an insult is an opinion and therefore doesn't need to be negative.
