Tools/ talent wise there is no PF that had more than him even to this day. His ball handling skill alone and ability to bring the ball up still kind of separate his from anyone you'd consider top 5 GOAT PFs. It just shows though mindset truly is what makes the true greats.

He had all the tools (size, strength, quickness, mobility, hops) and skills (shooting, post game, ball ballhandling, passing, defense--perimeter/post/shot-blocking--rebounding). There are a number of power forwards who based on their skill levels should of been locks for the HOF, but from injuries to indifference they probably won't make it. In my opinion the list includes Antonio McDyess, Larry Johnson, Danny Manning, Rodney Rogers, and Tom Gugliotta who had injuries along the way, but as far as i'm concerned the likes of Shawn Kemp, Vin Baker, Roy Tarpley, Derrick Coleman, and to a lesser extent Rasheed Wallace were their own respective worst enemies as the skill sets of these 5 was undeniable.

As a Nets fan growing up in the late 80s-90s (such brutal times to be a Net fan and that says a lot) I couldn't believe how talented Coleman was but of course there was the frustration that he mostly played with zero desire to win. If he had just a tenth of the drive and attitude of someone like Kobe or MJ there's not a doubt in my mind he'd be in the goat conversation.

As someone who is a diehard lifelong Syracuse fan, I always thought Derrick Coleman literally had the talent to be on the Mount Rushmore of power forwards in NBA history. I saw him play countless times at SU, and during his time with the nets I used to go see them quite often. Where he lost luster for me was the blank incident with Butch Beard. I will always respect his game and his natural ability but that just didn’t sit right with me and it never has, and never will.

One of my Favorite PF all time He could score inside & outside he also had handles with play making for others skills. Him Kenny & Drazen did not have a long enough run ( rip) Drazen. No excuses for Him but not having a veteran to show him the ropes and how a professional handles himself on and off the court hurt him also.
