Another tutorial was using quandl for their data and I realized it was deprecated as an API (apparently only historical now) Found alphavantage but was doing direct https requests for their data, didn’t realize they had an API. Thanks a bunch!!!

Is there any way you could give some guidance on writing a script that deletes duplicates within an Excel file based on column criteria (like user ID) and then splits the file into 3 even parts (33% of the rows in one file, 33% of the rows in another file, 33% of the rows in another file)?

My initial thought is to use df.drop_duplicates and then select the data using iloc[]. so like df1 = iloc[1:len(df['Series'])/3:1] df2 = iloc[len(df['Series']/3: 2*len(df['Series']/3)] etc. etc.But I'll dive into it! :)

hey thanks for the video, any clues on how to add more sheets into the excel file? For example first hit is on MSFT and it should create a sheet named MSFT, next scan should be for AAPL and get a new sheet named AAPL without deleting the older one of MSFT. Thanks for the kind words! In most situations I stray away from using them because you have to keep monitoring the code, but the cool part of scripts like these is the automation aspect. Not much automation if you have to manually start/stop so just less fun lol

Super tough question that if you knew the answer you could take over the world, haha. You "can" do predictions on time series data using tensorflow & python. The struggle is just knowing what to train a machine learning algorithm on to predict stock prices with. The more random a system is the harder it is for a ML algorithm to find a pattern, and thus make accurate predictions. So many variables: domestic politics, foreign politics, company earnings, public opinion, tax rates, unemployment rate, etc. play a role that stocks get so close to random, & hard to have completely accurate data, and so on. However, data analysis on previous and current trends are a viable strategy to making $$$ using python and the stock market, one strategy is trading on simple moving averages, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHuyapmBn5iSq5Y

Hi Derrick, I have copied exactly what you have done and I am receiving an error "No name timeseries in module alpha_vantage". I am using VS Code and Python both the latest versions. The system path is correct and working properly. I have tried importing sys and writing the sys.path.append(exact location of timeseries.py) but one of the VS extensions keeps formatting on save so that it appears at the bottom of the import libraries section. The only other way is copy timeseries.py into the project folder. Do you know of anyway to correct this?

Hi Everyone, is their any recommendation to get a beginners guide to understanding on how to use Python. I want to create a custom data stock tracker. Not just the High, Lows, Open and Close Prices. For Example, I want to find the percentage from OPEN price to High of day Price, or finding the percentage from previous day close to current day high.
