I think I am in love. I think she is possibly one of the sexiest women, ever. Enigmatic. Kind of a bit dreamy/other worldly. She did go to art college, and said she wanted to be a painter. Serious, with a silly side. Not too precious, about herself. Unassuming. I think she is great. I liked her, at the time, and like her still. And Money was just a great record, and still is. Kind of an art-punk record, there is such a thing. Ironic. I love it, and I love her! 💖

As a Flying Lizards fan, I was fascinated by this and by the earlier interview segment. I'm reminded of a line from "TV", the follow-up single to "Money" : "Je suis un sphinx"! It's clear that there's still a lot of bad feeling between her and David Cunningham, a.k.a. "the other bloke". Did you talk to her about that? It always seemed very strange that the only Lizards tracks she appeared on were the first three singles. Lots more material appeared under the band name, but without Deborah.

I don't see that myself. They were getting on just fine in my opinion, with a lot of irony going on.

As a fan since I was 14 years old, this group changed my musical landscape as it did many others. Thanks for this interview and asking the questions like you said fans want to know and would like to ask even though it was a bit like pulling teeth!

This group and song was part of the " new music" scene, yes, it is historical and paved the way for all the " new wave" and pop of the 80's, and even thru to today.

Some of the questions ARE inane, but I appreciate her for being willing to sit for the interview. Deborah Evans-Stickland is fun. Thanks Felix. Next time I come back ck to this interview I will let the commercial play all the was so that you are paid

To people who say she's annoyed, I don't think she was really. If she was genuinely annoyed, she wouldn't have done the interview, or carried on with it once she'd started. It's a bit of a pose, playing up to the image people already have of her.

Yikes! How evasive was all that??? She's so humble and self effacing, yet also poised and reacting like such a diva? And why such disdain for David Cunningham? It's as if she helped Hitler publish Mein Kampf and went to a few of his early speeches. LOL Yet listening to the album recently, and seeing her in the videos - she or someone knew how to make her sound and look damn brilliant! She carried herself with great confidence in her performance and posturing. Hard to believe it was all this naive accident she was totally unaware of. Strange lady indeed to not realize the lasting impact she made and the brilliance of the output to survive to this day! Talk about "disassociated"! LOL

DE-S is the nearest to a living goddess on this green earth that you will ever get. If you HAVE to ask yourself, inanely, "wots up with her?" - that is a reflection upon your character - or lack of. Show me anyone in the putrid music business that compares to this natural artist and STAR. So what if she looks like she just fell out of a Chekhov play, so what if she presents as 'unemotional' - perhaps if the world were less sticky with emotion we'd all be happier. Privately happier. Less of a pop star - more a philosophical movement In my view. Evans-Sticklandism.

Felix... Thanks for sharing this ... I had no idea that DES was involved with Station House Opera, an amazing performance group who I was fortunate to see at the ICA in London as well as in a performance in the Anchorage of the Brooklyn Bridge! I wish you had drawn her out more about her work with that group. Also: As far as the Flying Lizards went, you never got past the first two singles.... They covered Move On Up as well and even produced some original songs... PS I sense she doesn't talk with David C anymore, eh?

Oohhh: rather uncomfortable/discomforting, to say the least. Her speaking - and, response - style is not at all unlike/dissimilar to, her performing/"rapping" (if one will) style: detached, cool-to-a-fault, and altogether rather distant, having 'great presence' and yet, barely being entirely/fully 'present' in the moment; strange, yet - somehow - simultaneously, intriguingly compelling in a sense. I quite enjoyed it, actually ({; > ...!

She is a weird one alright or is she just unemotional .. I don't know .. it's was nice to probe her for some kind of feeling .. I'm not sure why she had a problem with David .. a bit disappointed calling him the "other bloke" .. I used to fancy her .. I pity her husband .. she seems very emotionally void.. ??? .. I'm still a big fan of the Lizards tho..

How do you know that she's unemotional? She's a psychotherapist and works with people who have disabilities. She probably spends most of her time having to listen more than she talks. And has to have a calm, controlled demeanour to do her job well! I don't know but perhaps you're judging a book by it's cover? Alot of therapists do that "uh hum" thing as they sit there writing all the stuff people tell them about their lives and trauma, to an extent you have to be unemotional otherwise you'd be seriously affected by it all!

Wow...what a tough interview for Felix. Trying to get water from stone may have been easier. Have to think that she is just not over recieving proper remuneration for a smash hit. Her question to Felix about why he is doing the interview might as well been, r u going to make money off of this? Felix was quick to point out that he was not. Doubtful she believed him. Still a great cover of a great song that owes much to her unique delivery. Try and smile there Deborah...Life's to short.
