Direct descendant of St. Louis IX, HIRH Prince Bertrand of Orleans-Braganza, issued a statement about the statue of St. Louis, in St. Louis, Missouri, urging Americans to stand up and defend Christian Civilization and save the monument.
"The recent attempt to tear down the beautiful statue of Saint Louis in Saint Louis, Missouri, illustrates how order is under attack," he said. "Christian Civilization is under attack. Because, ultimately, God is under attack.
"As a descendant of St. Louis, I was profoundly moved to hear that Catholics are gathering at the monument of St. Louis every day to pray the rosary and defend this symbolic and historic landmark.
"In these days of chaos and confusion, Saint Louis stands out as a beacon of light and virtue. He was a just and fair ruler, a true father to his people. Not only did his people love him, but even his enemies respected him. Foreign monarchs, for example, sought his counsel.
"But now - in the name of false diversity and inclusion - his good name is under attack because agents of disorder would like to topple what is honorable and replace it with the dishonorable. To topple virtue and replace it with vice. To overthrow what is Godly and replace it with the ungodly.
The time to stand up for our faith is now. Saint Louis, pray for us!

I’m working on becoming a Catholic and it’s days like these I find myself fighting for pieces of history that not only belong to my family lineage, but that of the church as well. I agree, the statue is stunning and its hard to understand its size until you see it in person (my youtube picture is a pic I took of a few years ago! I love that statue, and fell in love with it when I was an atheist...because it is simply a true work of art!). I used to live in STL, and was back just a couple weeks ago; I went to Art Hill several times, and they hadn't yet put up the barricades, but someone had graffitti'd the base (but the paint had been removed). Since you're in STL be sure to meet the priests at St Frances de Sales Oratory in South City, if you haven't been there yet. The church itself is absolutely magnificent and the priests are strong ICRSS priests (Latin Mass only) who will help you learn the Faith during your conversion and they are excellent confessors who really care about souls! St Louis is an special city, still "Rome of the West" and home to many Catholics and several of the most beautiful churches in the USA. One day I'll be back for good : )

It still exists. Bertrand ancestors were Knights of the Order of Christ which technically still exists it I'mnot mistaken. It was a Brazilian and Portuguese Order of Knighthood. They were the direct successors of the Knights Templars. But their members were like Knights of the Garter in the U.K, it was more of an honorific order
