Carlos is honestly one of the characters that makes up the heart and soul of the whole Descendants series. You even stated absolutely everything I was thinking, too!! I saw that theory about King Candy a while back, and I was delighted to see you mentioned it. It's entirely plausible, only that I'm not quite sure how a video game character could exist outside of the video game… being sent to the isle is one way for sure, but still; it just gets me thinking about how it would all work, but it still feels fitting!! Although it's possible that king Candy could have a different skin tone in the descendants series (Cruella does, and so does Aurora I believe), everything else about his character traits matches up too well with Carlos for me to think it would be much of anyone else. I don't think Carlos's father could be Jasper or Horace, since Jasper has a son named Jace and Horace has a son named Harry (not to be confused with Harry Hook, of course). Jace and Harry Badun were often around Carlos a lot during his childhood, but they weren't really friends; they were simply forced to interact frequently as young kids because of how Cruella still kept Jasper & Horace around as henchmen. But that's the thing; it seems as if Cruella simply cuts out any of her exes of any form, & since she was so controlling and evil towards Carlos, it seems like she would cut out his father, unfortunately. Still, the best part about Carlos is that he chooses his own destiny, no matter what. Cruella's parents were neglectful, which of course is a form of child abuse, but Cruella being the horrible person she is continued that cycle of abuse onto Carlos. However, he chose his own path and decided not to internalize the anger, or feed into his mother's drama. (Keep in mind, he's 14 in Descendants 1 and 15 in Descendants 2, which shows how smart and good of a person he truly is, especially to be able to understand such an important moral at such a young age). Not only has Carlos shown extreme resilience in all situations, but he's also forgiven Mal & Jay for what's happened in the past, and if you ask me, I think he's well on his way to forgiving Uma, Harry & Gil, too. You can clearly see that he seems lighter now, in a sense of seeing & feeling just how wonderful the world actually is. He decided to let people in & show his true self first & foremost, while also being a true team player when the situation calls for it. I could go on & on (just as I could for any of Carlos's friends), but honestly, I just love so so much that Disney is showing these types of characters and stories. It's so extremely important, especially since there are so many young viewers who can & will learn so many positive & helpful messages from the series. I honestly can't wait to see Carlos & everyone else not only display all of these qualities & more in Descendants 3, but also to see how him & everyone else end up after graduation!! No matter what the case is, Carlos will truly choose the happiest path for himself, and that's all anyone could ask for for any of the characters. I love Descendants so so much!!! 💫🍎✨

My dad was an alcoholic and neglected me, spanked harder than a parent should when he thought I misbehaved, and emotionally abused me. Because of him, I feel like a villain kid. He did a lot of things that the Disney villains would. He was controlling to both me and my mom and manipulated my mom and always tries to do that with me. The abuse he suffered at the hands of his mother was the most heartbreaking to me. Also the abuse he has suffered at the hands of the villain kids. Carlos is a great person, even on the island he was hardly evil, not compared to most of the people on that island. He was always showing more compassion than most of them. And I love how intelligent he is. Him and Evie are my favorites in the books and the movies. Love those two. Both of them are incredibly intelligent and were also never truly evil, even when they were raised to be. They never did anything that would be considered vicious or that would hurt others. Even when they grew up thinking that was what they were supposed to be like, they still weren't like that. It wasn't in their nature for some reason, even though they had the genes of the villains like all the other villain kids on the island, and had grown up being taught the same things as them. I love that about Carlos and Evie. They were never truly cruel. No matter how they were brought up.

Candace Garrett I don’t even think Evie was raised to be evil. Out of the 4 VK parents, the Evil Queen is the only one that seems to genuinely love and care for her child. In the book it’s said Evie’s mom homeschooled her to protect her from Mal’s influence or something. She’s also the only VK parent that sends Evie to Auradon for a chance to have a better life instead of revenge.

Cameron Boyce is dead due to a seizure in his sleep 😭😭 I literally grew up with him I’ve seen him on Jessie, Grown Ups, Descendants 1 & 2 and now it’s gonna hit so differently when I watch Descendants 3 ❤️❤️. I wasn’t even planning on watching it but now I’m going to just to see Carlos and see how different it hits me. The fact that it’s Cameron Boyce plus he died from a SEIZURE specifically. i have epilepsy and narcolepsy so this hits me hard.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ R.I.P. Cameron Boyce
