Tuan Guru from Tidore, Indonesia, was exiled by the Dutch VoC in 1870s to Cape Town. As a Hafiz, he memorized Quran, and wrote the first Quran in 1880s. It was believed that Raja Tambora (Indonesia) wrote the first Quran from his memory as well. But, he gave it to the Governor General in Cape Town, and nobody could trace it.
Tuan Guru not only wrote Quran, he also wrote Islamic Jurisprudence (1884) that was widely used by Cape Malay community for decades.
