I'm testing out a new video editing program and experimenting with some of its AI functions. Please let me know if you notice any difference in the editing, the audio, the cropping, or the eye contact (one of the AI functions is to improve eye contact, i.e., make your eyeballs look at the camera, or something to that effect). Thanks!

@@will-love-lvx hmm, thanks for that input. For audio effects, I clicked on the option "studio sound." out of curiosity, is it worse than any of my previous videos? I'm trying to confirm whether the audio issue is my own issue or if the editing program actually managed to make it worse. :-P

The previous video was much clearer. I think the studio sound might be adding the effect I'm speaking of.

Katabasis, or underworld journeying, is a common theme in western myths. Practical details of old traditions like the Orphic or Eleusinian Mysteries are likely lost to mundane means of rediscovery, forever. However, I think traditions like Wu and other surviving shamanic journeying practices offer modern practitioners effective ritual technologies to reference when pondering how the ancient practices may have worked.

Eastern Taoism predates Orphism and Eleusinian mystery schools, both of which are probably knock offs of Eastern “mysticism” as almost everything in the west was LITERALLY already in existence hundreds to THOUSANDS of years before Europeans had Greek civilization…

This reminds me of my ayahuasca journey last year...a Chicana shaman who practices the medicine from her indigenous lineage facilitated the experience. The integration process after the ceremony was where I journeyed into the underworld through dreams and encounters with my deepest darkest fears and traumas. A tough experience for sure but beautifully transformative and has given me a greater appreciation of life.

This seems like a great guided journey into the psyche/soul and with a good guide is probably very enlightening and liberating. I'm always so fascinated by how culture, language and myth are so emeshed in psyche. As a form of alchemy in the study of Taoism, I can't fully know the Chinese cultural nuance and so I focus on the universal truth found within it.

Thank you so much for explaining this so clearly. I was always curious about how such rituals are performed. When I was little, I lived in a village where there were many stories about a medium who called on a spirit, a ghost, or even a fox spirit (狐仙) to find things, communicate with departed relatives, etc. Because such practice was banned back then, I never witnessed such rituals but people rumoured such rituals were performed in secrecy!! One of my favourite poet 白居易 Bai Ju-yi described one such ritual performed by a Taoist priest looking for a royal concubine 杨玉环 requested by Emperor 唐玄宗 in his very long poem 长恨歌 or The Song of Eternal Sorrow!!

Very informative and also interesting to see how shamanistic practices express themselves in different cultures yet there always seems to be similarities. Hecate, triple goddess of the underworld, Shamanic vision quests of the Americas with the ancestors, and in general ancestor worship- communication. As far as Guan Yin, The Lotus Sutra as other Sutras as well specifically mentioned that a devotee may call upon the Bodhisattva Mahasattva for nearly any form of danger or need or protection. After all she is the one ‘ who hears the cries of the world’. Just recently found your channel, after purchasing The Book of Changes you authored. So far I’m loving it! Thank you 🙏🏻

Thank you for making this video. There's a lot there to unpack. Lots of similarity with some of the practices my friends and I experimented with years ago. We thought we were creating new systems of magick, only to find out later we were just rediscovering a very old technology, probably from the akasha I would suppose. We did the blindfold thing, but the talismans over the eyes is a great idea. Also the talismans under the feet and under the furniture legs reminds me of enochian magic, which has something very similar to that. Anyway thanks again for this and all you do! Your channel is awesome! I very much enjoy watching your videos! 🙂

The use of rhythm in these types of ceremonies seems to be fairly consistent amongst varied faiths. I think it's interesting how different percussive methods have been used in different cultures, and can't help but wonder whether there's something linked to your eralier mention of frequency response that makes some prefer wooden high-pitched drums, some prefer low-pitched skin drums, and some prefer the kinds of synthetic sounds available through computer manipulation.

Interesting that people believe unusual experiences are an advantage. Surely, in a Universe that always returns to zero we should be relaxing into an authentic surrender. The mind is susceptible to agitation in any case. Why agitate the mind any more than it already is? Communication occurs within the mind regardless of dualistic view and it's external impressions. The Buddha went to great lengths to teach one how to subdue the mind so that clarity may dawn. I guess this post is a nod towards the increasingly popular festival of Halloween.

This sounds very similar (in principle - in psychotherapy context there are obviously no ritualistic tools, and this is not limited to "going to the Underworld") to the Carl Jung's concept of "active imagination", which is still used by many Jungian analysts with patients. Jung's "Red Book" was based on his "conversations" during such exercises.

Am I correct in assuming that someone who has aphantasia (inability to visualize / “blind mind’s eye”) would not be able to go on this journey ourself - meaning the priest/ess would need to complete the journey for us?

It depends, when I work with clients that have this I tend to work with sensations more, to create the journey. In my Vipassana training, we are taught to exclusively to focus on sensation, visualization is disregarded. If clients want to me journey for them, than I can.

Hi, I recently started working as a cook in a factory where only Chinese people work :) I wonder if among these people there is at least one person who practices shamanism or knows someone who does because if so, I could ask someone to bring me an amulet or talisman from China :) but not decorations from a souvenir shop, but a real, consecrated one from some temple :> Is this possible? Do you know someone like this from China? who could do this for me? If I knew a specific address, I could ask at work if anyone lived nearby. My problem is as follows, apparently there are several spiritual beings living in my house, two of them are my grandmother and my great-grandfather, ex-human spirits, the remaining 4 or five were creatures that were never human and they are not entirely friendly, apparently they treat us as their hosts/feeders. I don't have the mystical abilities to check this, I wonder if Wu shamans know rituals that can unlock these abilities in someone? Lucid Dreaming OOBE etc Cleanse all the chakras and protect themselves against all dangers? Simply make our magical rituals work, instead of being empty actions that cause no reaction

I think the one "Wu Shamanist" that deserve most recognition in modern socio-politico studies is Qinshihuang's court sorceror Xu Fu (of the "1,000 virgin boys & girls to Mt. Fuji/Mt. Penglai" fame); Xu Fu must've saw the end to Qin Empire and concocted the grand "Elixir of Life" subterfuge where he made his great escape w/talented community of artisans, skilled labourers, a population of young boys and girls... to start new life and new city anew... allegedly contributing to the end of the Jomon period of ancient Japan... and contributing "Wu Shamanism's" illicit reputation under the succeeding Han Dynasty; the practice of which punishable by death, and forcing the primitive lineage of Shamanism underground in the philosophically Confucian state of the Han, and redeveloping, refining and redefining themselves as the modern Chinese-Shamanistic interpretation of *'Daoism'* which I'm sure regained much favoritism as our norther nomadic tribes continued to contribute to the peopling of the Asian heartland we generally call *'China'.*

Mad how this is what I've been doing, Journeying introduced me to chthonic energy, which led me to Haides, Hermes, Hekate, and a desire to open an underworld gate. Many who look into shamanism seems to be drawn to cthonic themes, It isn't exact but gives me ideas on preparing for such work.

American Indians say that they emerged from the underworld after the last great cataclysm which we live in the leftovers from that world. ie fossils, stones, gems, opals, mountains and valleys and the petrified world beneath our feet. They followed the ant peoples underground for protection......funny thing this is a common thread in many ancient traditions.
