Serena Williams, your amazing light hold's the most Grand Slam titles of any tennis player male or female - in the open Era with 23, and four most majors (4). Serena Williams is the GOAT female tennis player in the world!
@feynmanschwingere_mc22702 жыл бұрын
Serena has the record for consecutive weeks at #1 in an era wherein the financial rewards and incentives for being really good at Tennis are gargantuan compared to Martina's day. 2. Serena held ALL FOUR Grand Slams simultaneously...In two different years. 3. Serena has the open era record for most grand slams Those 3 achievements might never be broken and are FAR more impressive than volume stats or longevity stats which tell you nothing about peak ability. She is the GOAT tennis player (female, of course).
@nomanisanisland1172 жыл бұрын
Honestly though I think the stats you point out are what speak most TO her longevity which in many senses is unparalleled. Those two Serena Slams weren't just in two different years, they were a DECADE apart (with the first of what would be two pulmonary embolisms in between, to boot). No one else has done that.
@russelmachan81472 жыл бұрын
She has also the record for bullying umpires and humiliating them margaret court is much better than her.
@feynmanschwingere_mc22702 жыл бұрын
@@russelmachan8147 Does Tom Brady "humiliate" and "bully" referees and coaches when he cusses at the Refs with impunity, or cusses out his own coaches, or does that only apply to Serena? When Hingis fans and Russian tennis coaches are calling her and her lovely sister "men" does that get a pass too? She's not perfect, but she's the GOAT. Margaret Court? You never even saw her play. 95% of her titles are Australian Open slams in an era when many of the world's best tennis players couldn't always make it down to Australia. Serena would bash her in straight sets lol.

@blahblahlablah2 жыл бұрын
The 'GOAT' title is thrown around way too easily nowadays. Here's some things you need to consider: 1. Did you conveniently forget that Steffi Graf also holds the record for consecutive weeks at number 1? Not to mention she also holds the record for most weeks at number 1 2. Steffi also achieved a calendar slam (as did Margaret Court) including winning the Olympics which has not been achieved since. 3. Margaret Court holds the record at 24 slams, which (forgive me) sounds better than 23 regardless if it was in the open era or not. I'm therefore far from convinced that Serena is the GOAT, as are most others who are actually familiar with the history of the game

It makes me so mad when people compare Serena's record to Margaret Court's. Court won 11 Grand Slams in the Open era. The other 13 were at local, amateur tournaments. There is simply no comparison between the two. Graf is the only other legitimate comparison. It begs the question, why do some continue to compare Serena's record with Court's. I think the answer is very obvious.
@gopies14562 жыл бұрын
Actually if you actually did some research Margaret court was playing against the same players prior the pro slams. Margaret court was the best in her era. Pro tennis started in 1969 and in 1970 she won the calendar slam after having her first child and the in 1972 had another child then in 1973 won 3 out of the 4 slams. Margaret was the best in her generation from 1962-1973 whether it was during or before pro tennis
