The Rudall River National Park in the Great Sandy Desert is certainly one of the country’s most beautiful national parks. Rudall River and Kakadu National Parks are, I believe, two of the largest national parks in Australia. But whereas Kakadu, in the Northern Territory, is so well known and visited by many, many people, Rudall River, bring so remote and hard to get to, remains largely unknown and only a few people have ever visited it. I was lucky enough to be one of those people, staying for a week in the Park and seeing many wonderful places there, foremost among them the Desert Queen Baths in which there is a series of waterholes as big as Olympic swimming pools, and great for swimming, although the water was cold! Thank you to Diamantina Tours for making this video, it brings back so many great memories of my visits to the Great Sandy Desert In 1992 and 1999. May I thank Peter and Janet Morris of NorthWestern Safaris, the drivers and guides of my visit in 1999 to Rudall River and the Great Sandy Desert. If by any chance they see this video, I hope they see my comment and remember me from all those years ago, and I hope they are both doing well.

As beautiful and intriguing as this region of the world appears, I do not think it can compare to the deserts of the U.S, which feature towering landforms, prehistoric villages, and cactus gardens of remarkable variety and color. But I enjoyed this video all the same.

These Americans are so closed minded . We have amazing land formations with in our deserts . I can’t stand people who put down other places . Have you Americans heard of the Bungle Bungles in Western Australia or Karajini National park ? I do understand that the US has incredible a desert scenery but don’t pin tickets on yourselves!!
