Man, this is absolutely incredible! The little poles stabbed into the mountain really showed how little things can make something looked 'lived in' and real.

Damn, this is awesome! I don’t have the… really anything (time, space, money, supplies, knowledge, etc.) to build large terrain like this, let alone something this cool. Great work friend, it’s incredible!

Thanks! I'm planning to use this in a bat rep sometime this year :) I want to build some smaller versions of this with interconnecting bridges too

Why not use EPS or spray-foam, covered in joint compound? It has the same result with less messing around and costs less.
@AzraelThanatos3 жыл бұрын
Great work, and gives me a few ideas for things Since you'd covered the foam in compound, it might have been easier to replace the modpodge mix with some of the exterior spray paint+primer options to save some time. You might also consider looking in the hardware store for various metal mesh tapes rather than going for the office supplies to chop up. I believe it's in the gutter sections and is a lot easier to work with and the same basic thing while being cheaper. It's not quite as heavy duty, but you aren't likely to need it to be that level, and it becomes far easier to have some fun with it such as trimming in some interior battle damage. A friend of mine used a lot of that for a scifi setup a long while back for catwalks.

Thanks, I'll have to check out that mesh. Also, I haven't tried it but I don't think the compound would protect the foam from the aerosol spray. The mod podge forms a vapor barrier plus it gives everything a hard shell. I needed that around the areas where I cut the spray foam since it becomes spongy when cut.

You might be able to save a buck and skip a step if you used glossy black construction paper in place of window tint and clear plastic.
@hauntswargaming3 жыл бұрын
That would work too. I have a roll of window tint that I used for my aquarium and the plastic is from a food container that I cut up so I didn't buy them just for this :p
