My Grandmother had a huge Dictionary like yours. She had it on a wood book stand next to her morning chair. Each day, she would open it to a random page and go down the column until she found a word she didn't know. She would memorize it and use it during the day when she could. Great finds!

Before I start my comments, let me tell you I'm 69. I learned to sew and refinish furniture from my Mom. My only grandparent was my English Grandmother (Dad's side) whose life straddled Victoria, Edward, George, and Elizabeth's reigns. I inherited alot of her furniture, most of which has been restored. The footstool is Victorian. The style, however, is Queen Anne ( the shape of the legs). The coconut husk stuffing supplements the horsehair stuffing which is original. The burlap covering is wool. The original upholstery fabric appears to be silk velvet that has rotted. God bless you for saving the nails. If you incorporate them in your restoration, you can price your item higher for using original components. You, once again, did a beautiful job on this footstool. And the other items, too. I enjoy watching your hunt for items, as well as breathing new life into them. You and your family are truly artists!

I just love that 'grandmas' footstool !! What a transformation. I had a piece that was 100-ish years old, judging by when they stopped using horsehair as cushioning. Your layer sure looked like horsehair to me! When I refinished mine, I put the horsehair layer back in between the foam layers along with a note saying what I had done with the piece. I just love the history of furniture pieces. Great haul and transformations today, I wish I had that dictionary; what a find!

*Hi Cory.😊 I enjoyed this video very much.* *Having grown up with parents who owned an Antique and Collectibles Store, I recommend that you buy a box of plastic sleeves like the ones used to preserve pages in 3 ring binders to slip your botanical prints into. Buy the kind that are closed on 3 sides and open at the top. Better yet, thrift them if you can! Add a piece of chip board to the sleeve behind the print to keep it stiff and wrinkle-free. Chip board is the type of cardboard that is used on the back of tablets like legal pads, if you haven't heard that term before. Your husband or the kids probably have chip board on tablets for school that you can use when the paper is gone.* *The pages you displayed look great tucked in between the dictionary pages as you plan to sell them in your booth, but very quickly people's grubby hands, (✋️especially those of children) will transfer oils, dirt, possibly food stains, and creases or tears in your botanical prints. Even at 50 cents or a dollar each, the protective covers are helping to save you from a LOSS of $3.95 per page...and DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW MANY PEOPLE WET THEIR FINGERS TO TURN PAGES‼️🤮🤯 It also makes the prints look more professional and less likely to be stolen! 😔 The prints can be taken out of the sleeve when sold and bagged with the chip board to keep them from getting bent on the way home. You may even check with Mom and Pop printing companies to see if they have free cast-offs of chip board - or Staples or FedEx - that would be tossed anyway. (Ask me how I know, LOL!)*

I recovered a similar footstool with my Mom, about 60 years ago. Mom reupholstered for a hobby and a side gig. We would go to an auction one weekend and mom would get a sofa for example, then she totally transformed the sofa. We would have a new Gorgeous sofa for a short time in the family room. She would attract a sofa buyer, make her sale, and go to the auction on next weekend, where she would Do it all again. Growing up we had new furniture every month‼️😂 The Matter you described as coconut derived, looks similar to mine, mom said it was steamed, pressed horse hair (tails) . They had a lot of horses back then, none lived forever but clearly their hair was reused in many ways. The handmade nails look like upholstery type tacks, similar ones can still be found to purchase today. Mom had a special too for these tacks ( it was kinda petite for a hammer) it was lightweight and magnetized so a tack could be put on hammer, hammer could be swung and Boom, tack went in Well. Congratulations on your lovely channel. You have lovely instincts displayed, great innovations and quire the knack for content creation. 👍. I appreciate your honest, friendly presentations. 💗 Oh, btw, I’ve the 1946 dictionary & the GI-normous Dictionary as well…just sitting on my bookshelves…we were sent on a daily basis …multi times….to look up words. All us kids had amazing vocabulary scores in school growing up.
